I travel the world Part 37: Lobster vs. Steak vs. Crab !!!

in #food8 years ago (edited)

From my usual travel posts you might get the wrong impression that I usually only eat at 3-Star Michelin Restaurants and only stay at 5-Star Hotels. Of course I try to travel as comfortable as I can, but I have stayed in any type of Hotels, Airbnb etc.

If you travel a lot, most of the time you don't have time to eat out a 12-course meal so I will introduce you to some Chains I sometimes visit.

I Travel the(5)

Red Lobster

While most people would never go to this place, my opinion is that you can't get cheaper lobster anywhere than at Red Lobster. The lobster is usually displayed in a Aquarium, so they are not better/ worse than in expensive restaurants. I like this place for the people eating there. Gradution Parties, Families going out for a celebration (birthday etc.). It is really a down-to earth place so I like it once in a while.

The Lobster is pretty decent and the prices are unbeatable for lobster... (Cheaper than in Asia)

Price: Starting at 15$

I love Lobster!!!

LongHorn Steakhouse

A friend of mine recommended LongHorn Steakhouse. It is a very affordable Steakhouse and if you know how to order the Steak, you will get pretty decent results. Sometimes better than the expensive restaurants you would pay twice the amount for a steak.

Most European and American have the habit to order there Steaks well done. Problem is that you kill the whole steak if you do that. Most of the fat will burn and the flavor will be killed.

Order a fatty Steak, the taste is much better than a low-fat steak, I would recommend a Rib-eye or if you don't like fat a Filetsteak Medium-Rare.

Price: Starting at 13$

Usually you get a salad and a side dish included

If you are in Florida, always try the Keylime Pie, this is one of my favorite desserts!

Pinchers Crab Shack

I went to Pinchers CS with a local friend in Fort Myers some years ago. It is a family run chain and offers all kinds of Crab. Of course a place like Joe's Crab in Miami is the very best, but that place will set you back min 100$ per person for dinner, so Pinchers is a good place if you want good quality but affordable prices.

They offer a Killer Key Lime Pie and Lump Crab Cake here, so try that out too!

Price: Starting at 12$

1
Soft Shell Crab
2
Snow-Crab
3
So these 3 are Chains I visited in the past, of course there is so much more like FIVE GUYS, Fords Garage or ShakeShack etc. My winner out of the visited  3 would be Red Lobster but the reason for that is that I love Lobster.

It would be interesting to hear, if you can recommend me other options, I am always happy to learn about new restaurants.

Please leave a comment if you go to these family restaurants, or you avoid them!!!

Check out Johnnie's Hideaway for seafood if you're ever in Orlando!

Just googled it! sounds like a great place to visit !

I have never been to Orlando , but if I ever decide to go to disneyland I willt ry that out ;)

Are you kidding me?

Haha, you like it?

This is a lobster! It is impossible not to eat :)

yeah. I have to confess. we both ordered another lobster tail after that and some grilled scallops too ;)

I'm going to eat :) I can not listen to you anymore :)

Another great set of pics

thank you ;) While some snobs only go to expensive restaurants, I always try to find a good balance of good but reasonable prices, and expensive but fantastic.

Fantastic pictures! Made me hungry just looking at 'em!

;) yeah the food is pretty decent !

I will take the steak

;) Just go to the next longhorn and order the rib-eye medium rare :) will be good ;)

Ummmm.....yummy :)

;) yeah for this prices the food is really good

Great post, upvoted. I get the value angle very much but honestly couldn't stand when family would pick Joe's Crab Shack in Naples to go to when for an extra $5.00 each we could be dining at any number of much better restaurants with much better food. That Joes is now closed I believe. I don't mind the one in Jacksonville Beach so much because of it's great view. Pinchers by me in Sarasota is meh.....We go to Barnicle Bills or Captain Brians instead. Only the tourists go to it here. I used to love Red Lobster but with age it does a number on me now unfortunately. I miss those biscuits. I do love the Longhorn steaks though. The head chef at Sarasota location gifted me a bag of their 7-pepper steak seasoning. No ingredients printed on the bag. Couponing higher end seafood suits me or pony up the extra $5.00, Just my opinion.

;) yeah, the point was to introduce some quick chain restaurants. where you jump in, eat and leave.
of couse there is much better restaurants.

I meant Joes Crab Shack in Miami, I don't know any better Crab restaurant than that one.... I don't think the one in Naples was related to the one in Miami

And I meant no offense. Just sharing some experience as a native seafood lover. If Joe's Crab Shack is different in Miami then I'll give it a whirl in a couple of weeks with my business partner. The others I've been to here in Florida are all the same.
Speaking of steak, today's lunch brought to you by Cafe Havana:

Ah, Joe's Stone Crab, not the Joe's Crab Shack chain, excellent, look forward to trying it out.

;) yeah I am pretty sure that joes in miami is different . check it out

Will do. I love trying recommended places when I'm in Miami. We went to Houston's Steakhouse last time, not cheap by any means but a very good experience. As a bonus a group of models were at the next table. My wife says I can look but can't touch.

mmm...yammi ! :)) appetizing!

Thank you for sharing this material, I like what you posted. Thank you so much

thanks jlufer for your vote and your support

Crab is the best dish ever. And I ate the best one in California. Still can't forget it.

yeah I love crab too. only reason I prefer lobster is, that you can eat it much easier..

@knozaki2015 thank you for the SP!

I live in SA and our chain resturaunts are awful, and expensive. I get better and cheaper food by cooking. But I have to cook for 8, which can be tiring.

oh ! try my pesto recipe its easy and not expensive if you cook for 8 !!!

please give me some of the dessert. It looks really delicious. One thing I love about traveling is the food. To explore different tastes and trying out new things is amazing.

yeah meine kleine naschkatze ;) the dessert at the longhorn was ok, but at the crabshack they have a very good key lime pie ;)

Wow!!! That steak though! Just have my mouth watering. Could imagine how much of heaven you experienced with every bite!!!

it was great. but not as great as the steaks in japan ;)
