Good morning my friends and happy Sunday , let’s create a classic family Sunday meal for everyone, together step by step

Ingredients

500 gr. chicken leg

1 onion, finely chopped

1 stick celery, finely chopped

2 sk. garlic, finely chopped

Or a kilo of medium barley

1 tbsp. tomato paste

400 gr. crushed tomatoes (canned)

¼ κ.γ. cinnamon powder

¼ κ.γ. clove, powder

2 bay leaves

5-6 tbsp. olive oil

1-1.5 lt chicken broth

Preparation

1
Put a deep pot on high heat and let it burn.

2
In a large bowl, pour the chicken, oil it, season it well with salt and pepper and mix it with your hands wearing disposable gloves.
3
Then, we throw it in the pot in portions to give it a very good color from all sides, turning it with a pair of tongs, but without constantly stirring it, because it will start to boil instead of getting colored.
4
When it gets a good color, transfer it to a plate.
5
In the same pot, lower the heat to medium, add the onion and celery along with two or three tablespoons of olive oil, scrape the bottom of the pan with a wooden spoon and cook over medium heat until caramelized. Then add the garlic, cook for two minutes and add the tomato paste.
6
Fry for 1-2 minutes and empty the chicken. Add the cloves, cinnamon, crushed tomatoes, broth and bay leaf.
7
Cover the pot with its lid and simmer for 35-40 minutes
8
When the chicken is cooked, add the barley, mix with a wooden spoon and continue cooking for 20 minutes.
9
Serve hot.

Stay safe and healthy my friends and take care of your people

My best wishes from Greece
