Family meals don't get much easier or cheaper than this! It's one of my "go to" quickie, budget meals.
My ingredients list is (prices are from our Walmart in Central Pennsylvania):
12 oz. box of Bowtie Pasta ($0.82)
2 - 14.5 oz. cans Italian Diced Tomatoes ($0.92)
12 oz. Smoked Sausage ($3.54)
12 oz. frozen Sweet Peas ($1.68)
2 tbsp Minced Garlic
1 tsp Salt
2 tbsp Olive Oil
Parmesan Cheese (I added $1.00 total for the Garlic, Salt, Olive Oil, and Parmesan Cheese)
$7.96 total/5 servings - $1.59 per serving
1 ~ Boil the bowtie pasta according to your package's directions. I added a tsp of salt and a tbsp of olive oil to the water.
2 ~ While the pasta is cooking, put the remaining tbsp of olive oil in a fry pan along with the garlic. Slice the smoked sausage. Brown the garlic just a bit then add the diced tomatoes, frozen sweet peas, and the smoked sausage. Cook until the peas have softened.
3 ~ Strain the pasta when it's done, return it to the pot, and add the sauce. Mix thoroughly.
4 ~ Sprinkle each serving with parmesan cheese and ENJOY!
