Food photography: Obsessed with my pitahaya breakfast

in #food7 years ago (edited)

Pitahaya is native to Mexico, Central America and some Southern American countries like Peru. It is the fruit of a cactus and comes in a rainbow of colors, from blush pink and blood orange, to deep red.
If you’re wondering what pitaya is, it’s just another name for dragon fruit.

I love the lovely mild sweetness of this fruit. It tastes like a cross between a kiwi and a watermelon. It´s so delicious, sweet and juicy treat. Dragon Fruit is very refreshing and has many health benefits.
This exotic fruit is low calories and packed with fiber, vitamin C, B vitamins, iron, calcium and phosphorus. It definitely earns the name “super fruit”.
I often use it in fruit salads, smoothies or cocktails. Pitayas can be also used to make jam, ice cream, and desserts.

Stay awesome and Steem on!
