Before you caffeine junkies judge me, I love coffee and drink it regularly. I would even go as far to consider myself a coffee "snob". However, do you ever get to a point where you feel like drinking a cup of coffee is no longer giving you life, but it's actually making you MORE tired? That's your adrenals saying "give me a break" & that's where I'm at right now.

Dear coffee, meet your (temporary) replacement...
This is my secret weapon to trick my brain into thinking I'm drinking coffee - Dandy Blend. It contains extracts of roasted barley, rye, chicory root, dandelion root and sugar beet.
It's a bit more robust than plain Dandelion tea & has just enough bitter to give you that "I think I'm drinking coffee" taste. I've considered quitting coffee for awhile & this stuff would almost make me never miss it again. Almost :)
Got milk?
If you really want to trick your brain, try adding some steamed/foamed milk. I love this brand of almond milk - it foams the best out of all the ones I've tried. We use it at the coffee shop/restaurant I work at.
If you don't have a fancy steamer, you can just heat the almond milk (or your milk of choice) on a stove top & use a hand held frother. I also like to sprinkle a little bit of cinnamon on the top to finish it off.
Anyone else have a go-to beverage for swapping out coffee? Let me know! :)
Have an AWESOME day!!
Lindsey
Alternative coffees are my jam! Good stuff!
Heck yeah! What's your fav?
I like Four Sigmatic's Chaga & Lion's Mane mushroom coffee
I tried dandelion root coffee before, not too bad actually... but it still won't be able to ever get me off my caffeine addiction.
I'm going to have to look into this. I love coffee, but I gave it up a couple of years ago because I realized I'd become a slave to the caffeine and couldn't function without it. So now I have coffee maybe once a month and it gets me amped, but this might be a good everyday thing to drink.
You should! Ike is still drinking coffee every now and then, but even he is starting to prefer matcha over coffee now.
I see no reason to give up coffee. But I drink huge amounts of green tea and black tea for thirst.
I wish I liked green tea, but I love black tea!
If you can stand dandelion green tea is easy.
Haha one would think! Every time I drink green tea it makes my stomach hurt.
There are just about hundred different green tea. Some have more caffeine than normal coffee and some don't have any.
My favorite herbal drink is Yerba Mate which actually isn't tea. White tee is also very good. It has antioxidants and soluble fiber.
Seriously? Never thought of it. Maybe I was the one who should try the dandelion?
I would recommend cocaine, but I think that's illegal.
Hahaha well, to each his own!
lol. It was a joke. I dont do drugs. 😇
I figured as much :)
I tried Roastaroma tea, it didn't do the trick. It tastes like bitter tea to me. have you tried this? How does it compare? @ironshield
I haven't tried that one yet! I've tried other coffee replacement teas & the dandy blend has been the best so far. I can't drink it without a little cream & cinnamon though - helps with the bitterness.
Maybe I'll look for dandy blend with almond milk and cinnamon. Sounds yummy.
I love this stuff to it's amazing !
I really like drinking strong matcha green tea as a coffee replacer. It is very effective and long lasting too. I put in like 2 heaping teaspoons in one cup.
This is what the samurai used to drink in winter.
Ah, yes! I love matcha!! I'm currently out of it at the moment, but I need to get some more.
Though nothing beats a good cup of black coffee.... I love dandy blend too. Too bad I can't find it anymore here in Cambodia!
I think you should publish a cook book. Your recipes are awesome!!!
