STEEM Food Tours #13: Cravings (Just Like What It Promotes - Impressive with Satisfactionary): Cheras, Malaysia

in #food7 years ago (edited)

Hi everyone!

I have realised that I have been really writing a lot of food reviews of late; that is because I have been truly blessed by really great people around me who decided to celebrate my birthday earlier.

Last Sunday @karinzdailygrind invited me for lunch with her including a plan to head over to visit @khimgoh's mom at the Cheras Hospital (which by the way, has decent facility for a general hospital)

Since Khim has to settle her boys earlier, we have decided to have lunch first at Tesco Extra Cheras before meeting her up at 5pm.

Most of the time you would think that Tesco Extra, which is mainly a supermarket would usually have simple decent shops with fast food; but that is not the case for this Cheras joint.

Located with the same level of the indoor car park, this pleasant join is much adored by the locals with it's white walls and white furnishings.

I found @karinzdailygrind busy with her laptop while she waited for me and we decided to share our portions together so that we won't be overly stuffed.

Matcha Latte , approximately 2.50 USD

I have recent started to have a liking thanks to our most recent training at Damansara Uptown (Utama), that I have decided to keep my caffeine in check by consuming more tea than coffee. I am never a milk tea person but the Green Tea version is starting to grow in me.

I usually prefer not having sugar added, but Craving's portion is stronger with the green tea, so in the end I have decided to add some of their honey into the mix. But if you can have it without sweetness, the bitter plus creamy sweetness would have been sufficient without the honey.

Next, the Main Course.

To be honest, I searched through high an low for menus from Cravings and I was not able to find this design. Usually this is supposed to be a fish fillet with pasta pesto sauce; but @karinzdailygrind managed to order it without the pasta and mash potatoes and switched it to plain fillet with pesto topping and salad.

We both had a bit of problem identifying the mayonnaise-like flavour for the salad dressing, but overall it was really good and the portion was good enough for 2 girls to consume (since Karin also already had her rose latte earlier while waiting for me).

I liked the fact that the fish fillet was neither over cooked nor was it charred. Plus the pesto sauce was just right and a refreshing difference from usual (mushroom / cream) sauces. The sweet basil and pine nuts made a great addition with the pesto sauce I must say!

Price wise, I am not certain, but I could be guessing that it could cost around 10-12 USD.

Now for the Dessert!

How can we not end with dessert when the names are rather cocky.

We did not have the cocky named one...

And the one I chose came with a surprising huge portion!

Behold, the Hot Plate

(If I remembered the name correctly... I could be wrong)

Oreo, Vanilla ice-cream with hot chocolate sauce to be poured on... not to mention mint and marshmallow, strawberry and walnuts.... how could you not resist this fruity salad-like dessert?

The pancake at the base is super fluffy and with huge main course portion, it took us almost 3 hours to finish everything.

I cannot remember the price, but I believe this is approximately 7 USD, or less.

I can't really say this is a super affordable place to eat, but for a cozy and simple interior joint, I think it is a nice place to hang out for people in Cheras area.

Waiters are all young local Malaysians (adults) so they are well fluent with local languages including English. So you won't have any problem asking any suggestions from them.

How about you? Would you spend this much money for a little place where you not only enjoy the food, you could chat for hours and the waiters will not shoo you away?

If you have been there before, do share your experience and other food you have tried!

Until then
