Hello friends of steemit, I hope you are doing ok, today I will share with you a Venezuelan desert: El Quesillo, which is like a kind of flan but with condensed milk on it, to be honest I almost fulfill my expectations first time I did it, so let's get our hands dirt, following I share with you the recipe and a short quesillo story, as a mom I have to divide my time between what I do and taking care of my baby so my time is a little bit reduced:
Ingredients:
- 1 can of condensed milk
- 5 eggs
- Milk (the same amount of condensed milk can)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup of sugar (to make the candy)
The quesillo was usually a commonly dessert in Venezuela and was present in almost all birthday parties, when you got a slice of the cake it was also a portion of quesillo, now on, like many of the sweets here in my country, is incredible difficult to get these ingredients and when you can find them, are very expensive, example between the price of sugar and condensed milk is the minimum wage of one month and if you want to buy powdered milk would be the salary of two months, finally I´m confident in God we will overcome this situation and we will have a free and empowered Venezuela💪
Preparation
- In a round metal container add ¾ of water and 1 cup of sugar, heat it at low temperature, until the sugar begins to melt and turn into a golden color continuously move it to avoid burning, that's the candy.
- Still hot, the caramel should be spread throughout the same metal container and then left to cool.
- Add the eggs, condensed milk, vanilla and milk in the blender until the mixture is homogeneous for 1 to 3 minutes.
- Incorporate the mixture you got into the container and cover it (if it does not have a cover, use aluminum foil) and put it in a water bath for one hour and 15 minutes.
• If the water bath is in the oven, the temperature should be 350 ° F or 175 ° C.
• To know when it is ready; what I do is using a toothpick, I insert it through the quesillo if it comes out clean it is ready.
• Then freeze it for at least 1 hour (this depend on your taste), unmold and serve.
Note: If you feel adventure, add some liquor of your preference. 😜
