I'd never heard of Crispins or Hudson’s Golden Gems before. Very interesting stuff. I love Gala apples as one of my favorite varieties. They are great in pies and my choice for homemade applesauce. You are lucky that you got an apple tree to grow in your yard. My favorite home I lived in had a green apple tree in the yard but it struggled. The apples were always fully grown but never got bigger than a golf ball. We lived in the middle of a city so poor soil and not enough sunlight never allowed it to thrive. The tiny apples were delicious though. Crispins are a very pretty color.

Try growing another one some day. :) They don't ask for much, but you're right they need a few things.
