Of all the foreign cuisines which I enjoy eating the most, Japanese cuisine ranks number one. I like it even more than Chinese food. There is something about the lighter taste of everything in Japanese cuisine, it's not that it's not cooked with oil, fried or using unhealthy ingredients. It's the moderation of taste, the light and unhindered taste.
In the case of Japanese barbecue it just doesn't get better. I'm sure you've all heard of Wagyu beef. Actually the name refers to the Japanese Cow, and actually is separated into four different breeds of beef cattle. They are genetically modified (although few will admit this practice) to have marbling of the meat, this refers to the patterning. Aside from the patterning, it is also well regarded as the highest quality beef and often costs a great deal more than regular beef.
The nutritional benefit of Wagyu beef is that it has higher omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids than typical beef. The texture and patterning of the marble pattern reduces saturated fat content.
There is just nothing better than having the beef sizzle infront of you as it cooks. The smell is so alluring it builds up anticipation to the point of discomfort. Anything of quality cannot be consumed in large quantities and so each slice is actually very thin, helping to increase the surface area of taste to density ratio. It is absolutely terrific.
You wouldn't expect sushi to be made with anything other than seafood but actually, Wagyu beef is also used and it tastes incredible!
After a meal,, I decided to go for a walk in Shinjuku. Night time is more beautiful than day because of all the lights that light up the streets. It's so pretty.
