The discovery of varieties of vegetables and fruits with a unique shape today is being rampant done in various places in the world. After the earlier heart-shaped watermelon, this time appeared a new type of corn with colorful grains.
This corn is called Glass Gem. This variety was created by a local farmer of the United States. The idea of creating colorful corn first flashed across his head as he noticed the corn cobs of his harvest that showed unusual signs of having bright colors and shining jilka exposed to the sun.
The man named Carl Barnes is then collect the seeds of corn with different colors and plant it by crossing. After years of experiments, Barnes managed to produce corn with dozens of different colors on the grains, as the Daily Mail wrote.
Before he died, Barnes left a collection of seeds of his unique varieties to his friend, Greg Schoen and asked him to continue his efforts. In 2010, Schoen decided to give the seeds to Bill McDorman, the owner of a seed planter company in Arizona.
