I have always said that a chocolate bonbon is a magic chest that can store emotions, sensations and memories. Today I wanted to keep the aroma of the mountain range in a lemon verbena bonbon and another of naranjilla with ginger.
The cedron (Aloysia citriodora) is a shrub native to South America. It has a lemon mountain aroma and is consumed as a very good infusion to comfort a nostalgic spirit.
The naranjilla (Solanum quitoense) is a shrubby grass native to South America. It belongs to the Solanaceae family, the same tomato and potato. It abounds in all the markets of the city of Quito and its adjacencies. In Venezuela and Colombia it is known as "lulo" and is a fruit rich in vitamin C, acidic and very aromatic. Its leaves and the cover of its berries have pilosities, I think to shelter from the cold of the mountain.
I must say that the chocolates were delicious
... and I was very happy!
