For this new step by step I present you with a simple, delicious and nutritious recipe, for those days where our tasks do not leave us much time for the preparation of a meal.
This food could be included in the menu of Venezuelan typical lunches that I adapted according to my tastes, and I call it garden rice because of its colors.
(As a Reference)
- Chopping board
- Saucepan
- Knife
- Wooden spoon
- Mortar
- Grater
(For 5 people, if it is served with a contour (salad, roasted plantain, toasted bread))
- ½ chicken breast filleted, previously washed and macerated with salt, pepper, garlic sauce, and cut into small cubes
- 2 cups of rice
- 4 cups of water
- ½ white onion (large) chopped into very small cubes
- ½ chopped green paprika in very small cubes
- 4 cloves garlic crushed
- ½ grated carrot
- Turmeric
- Salt and Pepper (to taste)
- Parsley
- Fry lightly the onion until transparent. Add the paprika and garlic, and cook for about 2 minutes stirring up constantly. Include the grated carrot and season the vegetables with salt, turmeric (approximately 1 teaspoon), pepper and parsley.
[Photo taken from my mobile] - Add the chicken and continue stirring up until the chicken is white (indicating that it was cooked completely). At this point you should try and correct if is necessary salt, pepper or turmeric.
[Photo taken from my mobile] - Add the 2 cups of rice in the cooked chicken, and stir up until the rice grain be whitish.

Additional note: to obtain a rice with a good apparience and consistency, you have to add the correct amount of water (2 cups of water for each cup of rice) and let the water of the rice dry a little over medium heat, when you see holes of water bubbling, cover the pot and put on a low heat until it is finished drying the water. Once you check that there is no water, turn off and let the covered rice stand for 10 more minutes, so that if any grain is hard, the water vapor generated gives it the necessary heat to be cooked.
Final note: I am not a professional chef but I love yummy, easy-to-make and very nutritious food. I hope you like it! Usually I sirve the garden rice with roasted plantain that is also very delicious!!!
