A Japanese start up firm, Open Meals is developing a way for sushi lovers to get their fare teleported. They made their debut at SXSW and showcased their 'Pixel Food Printer'.

The food is composed of an edible gel that is injected with colors and flavorings which transforms the gel to simulate the desired food in taste and texture. Although the shape of the end product looks pixelated, it is their first prototype. Surely future revisions will address this issue.

Creating the food starts by a digital food platform named 'Food Base', this contains the recipe for the different types of foods. These measurements will create the flavor, shape, color and texture of the gel so it will simulate the actual food. The food base will serve as a repository where people can download or upload food data to sent to the pixel printer.

Open Meals are working on ways to reduce the pixel size to improve the visual appearance of the final product. They envision practical uses for their product such as being able to teleport dishes directly to customer's homes.

If such foods will be more tastier than pixel computer games, then it is necessary to taste. ✫✫✫✫✫ (:

Agreed, I would like to taste some.
