I made a very similar change at the beginning of the year. In January, I started on keto and then little things kept popping up within my circle of influence that kept pointing me to something a bit different.
I lost about 15lbs or so in January and then in February I started eating a carnviore diet, where I excluded all sugars, processed foods, and as close to zero carbs as possible. I only eat meat and meat by products such as butter, eggs, and small amounts of cheese.
It was crazy trying to come off of the carb and sugar addiction, so I know your pain! I'm down 140lbs since February and have been stalled for about a month so all the weight loss was in about 10 months or so.
Best of luck on your journey and I look forward to reading your updates on it. I've got to get around to writing about how I did it and what the process was like.
btw, if you are feeling fatigued, keto fluish, etc try adding in extra electrolytes, it was a life saver for me!
Yes, I looked at a carnivore diet, it seems ok but I want some kind of vegetables also. I like the fact that I can make bread with little to no carbs and enjoy breakfast sandwiches and such. The cauliflower crust pizza is not too bad either.
The refined sugar stopping was the worst part. I wanted the candy and everything I found that diet sodas are ok every once in a while and the artificial sugar in tea is not bad, the coffee was not a problem as I drink it black anyway.
Mainly it is causing your body to use fat as fuel and not sugar. I figure in time weight loss will stall for a while but start up again from the research I have done. I will try to share things as it progresses just a busy time here right now.
Coffee is the one of the very few plant-based items I still HAVE to have lolol I use heavy cream a small amount of stevia. Once I hit my target weight, I will probably start introducing small amounts of veg back in and transition to a more "ketovore" style, mainly meat with just an occasional amount of veg.
Yes, coffee is a MUST!
