Hi!
Here is an update in ECOS ecosystem and some explanations!
Will ECOS have its own laboratory?
No own laboratories are planned to be created for the project ECOS. Such a solution requires too much effort and has little effect, at least, because of the following:
- Creation of even one laboratory incurs a lot of expenses, and many of
such laboratories will be required, all over the world. Why build what’s
already built? - The main problem is not the number of laboratories, but the high cost of
analysis. - The public has no access to the document ow.
Laboratory analyses are an important part of getting low-quality
foods, and, unfortunately, it is conducted not as frequently as many would
like it to, which is often abused by manufacturers. Faking of documents is
quite common practice and this problem should be fought at many levels;
particularly, a mismatch between actual and claimed characteristics may be
easily found by laboratory analyses. The technologies of open information
storage allow anyone willing to bring a certain product for analysis, because
they will have all documents with them and it will no longer take any effort
to collect them. This will certainly help involve more people in the quality
control process. Instead, we want to focus on attraction of public attention
to food quality control, make it possible for people to actively participate in
such control. Because the 100% openness of information to the public
forces manufacturers to be maximally/completely honest, the high cost of
analyses will be compensated for by the following:
1)Activists or a group of people interested in quality checking will be able to
bring a product for analysis, thus checking not only the contents of the
product but also how honest its participating manufacturer is.
2)Competitors interested in finding weak points will also try to and violations.
It is important to understand that technological particularity of
manufacturing and contents will allow manufacturers to compete, not being
afraid of having their secrets related to product quality revealed. All this will
help any manufacturers that are certain of the quality of their products to
act openly, thus positively attracting attention to their products.
What will ECOS do if disclosure of information on certain substances is prohibited by the law of a certain country?
In such cases, the full information will be contained in the blockchain,
however, some of its elements, disclosure of which is prohibited in a certain
country, will probably not be disclosed.
How does ECOS plan to promote its product?
The/State is one of the three foundations ECOS will rely on in terms
of promotion of the project. First, the state ensures control and order on its
territory, calling all participants to order, but it can not always promptly
respond to people’s needs.
In the previous addition, it has already been mentioned that the state
will always be interested in collaboration with private business because of
the efficiency and the promptness of decision-making, as promptness of
solution finding is now becoming critical. ECOS is useful for a state because
such a system facilitates organization of the document ow, makes it more
reliable and improves efficiency of the food quality control system in
general.
ECOS is located in Estonia, a state which is very loyal to technological
innovations with greatly integrated electronic structures, many of the state
authorities work via electronic applications, there is even a system of
electronic voting. In the country, there are many experienced specialists and
government officers working on optimization and development. Estonia
often involves corporate entities in Internet security-related projects. This is
the best place in the world to start optimizing a system like ECOS. Further,
we will operate in such countries as Norway, Sweden, Finland, Germany, the
USA, Britain, Japan, Russia, France, South Korea.
We will hold conferences and, primarily, offer our services in the
states that are prepared technology-wise and able to guarantee observation
of their laws at a high level. Thus, not only the application itself will improve
in the course of operation, but, importantly, so will the interaction of govern-
meant officers in different countries, the ECOS team will have the necessary
experience in problem-solving and establish authority, which will allow us to
help other interested states fight for food quality.
Communities/unions of consumers and manufacturers will also be
able to play an active and important role, making use of all the advantages
of the distributed information storage technology. Social positions become
more important, when people interested in the honest business operation and
transparency of their product manufacturing will be able to directly make
arrangements with one another.
The application is yet being developed but it is already now that we are
making the plan of how ECOS will protect the interests of its users in countries we don’t partner with. Besides typically “liking”, its users will be able to
make reports in the system, telling that a low-quality product was brought
to a controlling authority or informing all other users of any made or
delayed decision. In case there are a lot of reports left without decisions
made on them, it will show not only the doubtful product quality but also
the government officers’ unwillingness to carry out their duties. It will also
be possible to attach a report from an independent laboratory, in case a
consumer decides to act by themselves.
These functions of the application should create a neutral platform for
social activity and interest protection, provide the ability to publicly promote
the idea of ECOS.
Advantages of QR-codes over the RFID and the NFC systems in the food industry.
The main and definitive advantage of QR-codes is their simplicity,
low cost, and mass spreading. A QR-code may be easily placed on the
smallest foods and drinks, unlike the RFID and the NFC systems, the use of
which is not economically reasonable or technically possible.
The food industry is very sensitive to price fluctuations. Every manufacturer aims to make the price and quality ratio maximally attractive for the buyer. So, a manufacturer may use honest ways (quality improvement +
product advertising, design, etc.) or dishonest ones (mentioning of more
expensive ingredients on packages, wrong manufacturing technologies and
storage, use of someone else’s brands, etc.).
QR-codes are already widely used in package design and printed on
any material, be it waterproof paper, thermoplastic, etc., there is no need to
manufacture one separately, maintain or supply it, it is printed together with
all other design elements. A QR-code is cheaper than any RFID system,
which is crucial for the food industry, besides, it is safe, may not be used for
tracking and works in any conditions. Technically, a QR-code is much better
for the tasks of ECOS.
How can one earn with help of the ECOS application?
As we have already mentioned in our White Paper, there will be
in-app purchases - the app’s functions one will be able to buy for ECOS
tokens only. This will ensure token circulation, any funds transferred to the
application’s account will be converted to ECOS tokens. In the course of use
of the system, tokens will be spent on different actions, such as reception of
more detailed information the client is interested in, requests for information
analysis, etc. It will be possible to subscribe or choose to open certain data
in every particular case.
The ECOS team would like to motivate people to find counterfeit
products and fight them. For example, we plan to create a system where
every participant of a chain will be able to make reports by themselves.
They will also be able to attach a brief description of a product and its
picture, the link to which will be fixed in the blockchain, which will,
for example, allow the transporter and the supplier to make arrangements
and use the ECOS system to check each other.
ECOS believes that, along with state institutions, everyone else
should have the ability to actively participate in quality control, create
groups, have a reliable tool for having their efforts documented. We also
plan to create a loyalty and bonus system, through which people will be
able to get tokens as a reward for detection of a counterfeit product or any
kind of violation, on the product’s way “from the eld to the shelf”. Earned
or purchased tokens may be transferred to other wallets or exchanged for
at money or cryptocurrencies.
Why has ECOS chosen an ICO, not an IPO?
ТThis way, we allow the maximum number of people to participate
in the investment. Another important thing is, we believe that our investors
may live in states where the level of corruption is very high, and, since our
idea is largely based on people’s social activity, we give them additional
guarantees of safety and independence by issuing our own tokens.
Our tokens are developed on the basis of the ETHEREUM ERC 20
standard, which guarantees compatibility with popular wallets based on the
ETHEREUM protocol, which is easy to use (as well, on an exchange) and
are not linked to any national currency. Everyone in the world will be able to
start creating the ECOS quality control ecosystem that does not depend on
state authorities.
