Coffee morning

in #food7 years ago (edited)

It's Saturday morning. I usually wake up by 9am, go for an hour of workout in the gym and then get ready for a working Saturday afternoon. I'm skipping the gym today to have some time to just kick back and relax. To enjoy the coffee and some Arabic sweets on my balcony. And the sun. There's plenty of it but, ironically, vitamin D deficiency is very high here because people spend most of the time indoors or covered.

I usually only buy Arabic sweets when I have friends coming over and they want to take home some authentic gifts for their families. If you know where to buy them they can be really tasty with lots of nuts and not too sweet. I used to have a really good pastry shop very close to my previous house and I still go there to buy sweets now even if it's a 30 minute drive to reach it and there are probably 50 other pastry shops in between. One of my local friends who lives in that neighborhood says those are the best you can get. I guess he must know something. Or he's just a creature of habit, but aren't we all?

Have a good Saturday everyone!

These sweets looks quite healthy and delicious! I mean I am sure there is a lot of sugar inside still, but atleast there are some nuts as well :) is it normal to work on Saturday in Dubai ?

Plenty of sugar yes but they are not too big and if you only have a few you'll be fine :) Yeah most people work Saturdays too and just have Fridays off. Some are lucky to be off both days, mostly government sector and schools. How is it in China?

It depends on the company. Generally for office workers both days are off, meaning both Saturday and Sunday. That's how it is in my company. However for factory workers they usually only rest on Sundays and sometimes not even that ! Sometimes they only rest 2 times a month. Many factories are located by the coast line and much of the labor for factories comes from in land. It's a tough life. They earn money and send back home, and usually they only go back to their family and hometown once a year during Chinese New Year. It's the biggest Human migration in the world with 3.6 billion “journeys” during this holiday!

I too am skipping the workout to enjoy a quiet Saturday morning coffee while the kids are still sleeping soundly. Here in Canada, I wonder where I could get my hands on those yummy delicious desserts. Before my dads retirement, he had this work colleague and friend that used to bring him these Arabic sweets a few times a year. Your post reminded me of them and how yummy they are. Have a great weekend.

I am i invited for tea sorry bt loved healthy breakfast in morning

Nice post

I'm glad you enjoyed it @rivendal, thank you.

Looks good! I lived for many years in a hot humid climate where we spent half the year mostly indoors... some people would even get "reverse" Seasonal Affective Disorder as a result.

Have a great Saturday!

Really? Where did you live? I assume you don't mean Denmark when you say hot and humid :)

I am happy drink one :))

Wonderful

That sounds like a great saturday morning - relaxing and enjoying the sun :) The sweets look delicious! Have you ever tried them from another shop? or is it just kind of a habit of yours? I was always wondering why people go to the same shop to either buy their flowers or food - I guess it's kind of a mix between a habit and knowing what's good :)

wow i love this food
