Doux Amour Patisserie - Creators of The Most Photogenic Choux Pastry Cakes

in #food7 years ago (edited)

Say hello to my little friends.

Aren't these the cutest cakes you've ever seen?! Doux Amour Patisserie opened up over a year ago but they've achieved something of a cult following in Sydney in the last 6 months for their animal-shaped choux pastry cakes. For those that don't know, choux pastry is the kind that is used in eclaires and profiteroles. For these particular cakes, the choux pastry encases a light custard that is offered in many different flavours with a cookie crumb on the outside.

When I first came across these cakes I thought they were super unique so I thought I'd share it with the Steemit community and see if you guys had seen anything like this before! My passion is experimenting with foods, both cooking and eating, so I really like what these guys have tried to do and so far it seems to be pretty successful so let's meet some of the cakes.

The different animals represent different flavours, for example, I'd like to introduce

Rosie the rose and lychee pig

O-be the taro octopus

and...hiding in the back is Macho, the matcha green tea frog

Sorry I didn't take more photos guys, my friend and I were chomping at the bit to eat these so I had to hurry haha. Doux Amour has recently expanded their collection and this is their full family of animals:

I always love checking out new restaurants, cake stores or anything novelty or food-related around Sydney (and even better internationally). I've recently spotted a cafe that does BLING BLING silver and gold soft-serve ice cream so hopefully I can get there and show you guys soon!!

Let me know if you guys have tried choux pastry or if there's a patisserie you've seen that does something similar. Even better share a post or photo, I'd love to check it out!

I'll be doing a blog of my recent trip to New Zealand so stay tuned for that. Until then...

Nice to look at and I'm assuming as delicious as it looks too :D

YES I forgot to comment on the taste haha. The custard inside was lighter than traditional choux pastry fillings which I really enjoyed. I think my favourite was probably the Macho frog (green tea filling), the rose and lychee tasted a little too strongly of rose for my liking but all in all I think I had too much fun eating these animals to focus solely on the taste.

Thanks for the comment!

Really admirable work!

Btw you should hashtag foodphotography. It'll enter you into a contest automatically. Shouldn't be telling you this coz your pictures will be up against mine and you'll definitely win with those kindda shots :D

Ohh, I had no idea! Haha aw don't worry, I just had extra good lighting in this cafe on the day so my photos look good but usually they're not this sharp. Thank you very much for letting me know, I love how helpful the steemit community is :)

Oh you're welcome! I'm still finding it hard to upload a display pic. haha so I'm pretty new here too. Yeah the community here is awesome!

Do follow me back and upvote my posts. Would really appreciate the support!

My stuff are still a work in progress. Trying to get better pictures and improve my photo taking skills but I decided to start writing stuff and at least get some things out there for the time being.

For sure, I've checked out your posts and left a comment already :) Looking forward to see what else you've got coming up!

Thanks! Right back at ya!

Happy Steeming!

I love these! They are nice and fluffy!

I know right! Choux pastry really is quite unique and I think the cookie crumb + light custard filling made for a great afternoon snack. Thanks for stopping by to comment :)

I love this! What a great way to make pate choux fun and festive! I must try this for Christmas time!

I didn’t make these unfortunately, way out of my league but I encourage you to try for sure!

They're the Pokemon of snack foods. Gotta eat 'em all!

Hahaha I love this!! You're 100% right. Also your profile pic made me laugh lol
