This afternoon I just thought of what I can make to eat and I said to myself, yam can do the magic but what can I prepare with yam that will be so appetising to me and everyone at home and then the thought of asaro (yam portage) came to my mind. It is really fast and easy to prepare
Ingredients.
Yam
Pepe(atarodo)
Onions
Tomatoes
Ugwu leaf
Potash
Spice(fish Spice)
Crawfish
Salt
Palm oil
Smoked fish
Note:you can add your own recipe too
Method of preparation.
First of all peel your yam and cut into smaller pieces
Put on the fire to cook.
Add the quantity of palm oil you want into the yam(you do this so the oil will cook into the yam and when eating the yam you can see the colour of the palm oil inside the yam)
Pound your pepper with a mortar but if you do not have a mortar you can use a blender to blend the pepper and crawfish.
Make sure you slice your tomatoes not blend it.
Slice your onions too
After doing all these add them to the yam on the fire.After adding all the ingredients into the yam, the pumpkin leaf(Ugwu leaf )should be the last thing you add so that it would steem a little before the food is ready.
Please make sure you don't add too much water so that the portage will come out thick
After cooking your portage then you can now fry your fish to finish your meal.
