Papaya candy | Easy recipe

in #food7 years ago (edited)
How are steemians? Today I will show you how I prepared a delicious papaya candy. The papaya candy is prepared very often for Christmas, it is cooked slowly and being crystalline it is kept in glass jars, a papaya candy can be an exquisite gift, it can be consumed as dessert or snack. Its crystalline slices will always be a magical encounter with the venezuelan creole sweets.

Ingredients:

5 kg of papaya

1/2 kg of white sugar

1/2 "Papelón"

Cloves

Water

Preparation

The shell is removed from the papaya and cut into thin slices, spread on a tray, sprinkled with baking soda and left until the next day. They can also be extended and left in the sun for a day, so that they remain firm. If done this way, we do not use bicarbonate.

Place the milky in a large pot, add the sugar and place a little water, (about 4 fingers of the pot). Then add the cloves and let it cook slowly until the papaya crystallizes. The fruit releases a lot of liquid so you will not need more water. Let cool. When it is lukewarm, serve in glass jars or in a large container.

Note: This recipe carries only half a kg of sugar and half a kg of "papelón" and I did not use bicarbionate because I left it all day in the sun. It's a copy of Grandpa's recipe.
