This may sound crazy as to why a developing country with strong farming potential should be importing $99.5 million worth tomatoes from Burkina Faso each year.
The Burkinaba farmers produce much tomatoes of which are of very high-quality. This clearly shows how much investment have been pumped into the tomatoes production in Burkina Faso.
In early May,2018 the government of Ghana His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffu-Addo said the Ghanaian importers are allowed to do the harvest by themselves to get the best ones. He said again that importing of tomatoes will stabilized a fair price on the market.
As a developing country Ghana, must we spend such huge sum of money in the importation of tomatoes into the country to stabilize the market price?
In my opinion as many would be in great view of won't be in right position to support the annual importation of tomatoes.
The country needs to invest money in the enhancement of agricultural production than importation from other countries all the need of relationship building. This can't help the growth of development in Ghana.
interesting news that I didn't know
