Guasacaca (yes, the name is a little strange) is a traditional Venezuelan sauce. It looks a little like guacamole, but its flavor and texture are different. This delicious sauce with an avocado base is never missing from my fridge. It can be served with practically everything. In Venezuela it’s typically used with parrilladas or barbeques, but I have already discovered that this sauce is very versatile. I use it with sandwiches, hot dogs or as dip for fiestas. My favorite combination is with empanadas! Easy to prepare, the ingredients are usually what we already have in the refrigerator. I promise you that this sauce will give you a special and rico touch to your meals. Enjoy!
Tips.
.- If you don’t have a food processor, use a blender instead.
.- The level of spiciness can be adapted according to your family’s taste. Just add more or less hot as desired.
.- Personally, I like guasacaca to have a creamy consistency, so I don’t feel the texture of the ingredients; that’s why I
process the mixture thoroughly. But if you like to have avocado with more texture, blend for less time.
Steps.
Step 1.
Add all the ingredients to a food processor and blend until the sauce reaches the consistency you desire.
Step 2.
Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
