Curried shells is a very good snack.It is very tasty and delicious. Unlike pastry,this coating doesn't have too much fat.
One can choose the filling they want. Vegetarians can choose the vegetable filling. Here I have used minced beef and vegetables as the filling. One can choose the spices according to their choice. Those who do not like hot taste can avoid chilies and chilly powder.
Ingredients:
For the dough:
White flour/ Whole wheat flour - 1 1/2 c
Butter or cooking oil -1- 1 1/2 T
Salt - to taste
Water - enough to make the dough
For the filling:
Cooked minced beef - 1 c
Potato - 1 small
Carrot - 1 small
Green Beans -3
Onion - 1 small
Garlic - 3 cloves
Ginger - a small piece
Green chilly - 1 (optional)
Cooking oil - 1 T
Ground pepper - 1/2 t
Chilly powder -1/2 t
Coriander powder -1/4 t
Meat spice -1/4 t
Cooking oil for frying - 2 c
Method :
For the dough:
Sieve flour and salt into a bowl.
Rub the fat into the flour.
Slowly mix with water and make a smooth dough.
Divide the dough into small balls.
For the filling:
Cut all vegetables into small squares.
Chop onion ,garlic and ginger finely.
Heat the oil in a pan and saute chopped onion,when soft ,add chopped ginger and garlic.
Add all powders into it .
Add all cut vegetables and salt and stir well.
Sprinkle little water and cook until vegetables are soft.
Add cooked minced meat into this and mix well.
Filling is ready to use.
Roll the balls into small rounds.
Put the filling on half surface and cover with the other half and press the edge with a fork to seal.
Repeat the process with all the rounds.
Deep fry the curry shells in hot oil ,until both sides are golden brown in color.
Serve hot.
