OK, since becoming vegetarian I have strived to find out many things that will help me in this lifestyle change. As I don’t eat meat or fish, but am a lacto-vegetarian then I do need some extra boosts here and there. One of which was the addition of supplements. These consist of Vitamin D and E. Now apart from that I found a great article about black garlic which stated much as what was said in the image below. Being a little worried of modern living and those fears of the big C, I jumped at this. And bought a fermenter to get started on making some. You can see my review here.
That aside, and after my first batch, I actually started to look into what else it could offer. I say this as I consume white garlic almost every day in my cooking, and now it’s good for antibacterial affects and other health properties. But what a shock when I discovered these eight health properties that black garlic has:
The process of fermentation actual converts the allicin compound into S-allylcysteine. This in fact then strengthens the antibacterial, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of the garlic. This in itself boosts the bodies immune system, which can fight germs.
It has been reported that the taking of black garlic can aid in the healing of damaged livers from alcohol abuse. This is a report based on tests performed on rats (which I don’t agree with, but am simply noting), so may have or have no affect on humans.
It can aid in the reduction of cholesterol, which is vital to fight issues with the heart and the proneness of heart attacks.
It has a strong medical affect of helping prevent the risk of cancer and according to the image that first got me interested in black garlic, it is in fact toxic to 14 known cancers. I did know that normal garlic is good for this and is one reason I use, but black garlic is reported as being 10x more effective in this function.
A strong delivery of antioxidants that protects the body’s cells from disease. Black garlic is so potent, the heightened levels of antioxidants even offering protection from free radical damage. Free radicals damage cells leading to heart disease, Alzheimer's, circulatory problems, rheumatoid arthritis and other chronic diseases.
Healing properties that can aid in the reduction of inflammations around the body.
Relief from allergies, by deterring genes that cause allergic reactions.
Prevention of some common ailments such as cold prevention, influenza prevention and norovirus prevention.
Other benefits that are not directly health related but show benefits to our lifestyle are the increase in energy whilst consuming the black garlic. And with this, the ability to recover from fatigue more easily. And at the end of the day, the ability to help in the improved sleep patterns which again will help the body recover from any ailments, disease and health problems.
On a final note, it has been claimed that black garlic has also the proper of anti-aging. So, if you are a little vane, then there is a single benefit there to aid in convincing you to take black garlic.
