also I would suggest to add spirulina powder to your smoothies. if you want to continue them the way you are doing
your blood sugar will be taken care of by the spirulina powder

I'm doing straight juice right now, no smoothies, but now that I'm getting back into working out again I'll probably start making them. Before my workouts I used to make smoothies with a vegan protein powder called Spirutine, which had quite a bit of spirulina in it.
