Camote and Chicharon: Because Why Not?

We Filipinos are fond of our snacks. We usually think about what to eat next even when we're still eating. That's how excited we are hahaha :-D At 2 to 4 in the afternoon, it's our merienda time! So much excitement in there!!!

I was having my break after my Cookery 9 class. I head on to our school canteen and smelled the fried sweet potatoes Ate Pina is cooking. My stomach right away signalled my brain: "You know what to do."

The day was gloomy and feeling cold. So this just-from-the-pan fried camote/sweet potato will uplift my Monday spirit. I took a plate (soup bowl, I think hahaha) and grab a stick of three slices of camote. I pulled them off from the stick. Yum! I love how the caramelized brown sugar sticks to the camote. It's heaven!

Now, I'm usually the type who never settles. I'd love to complement food, match and match, mix and match, whatever. I want to eat happy. So I opened a pack of spicy chicharon, it's a Filipino favorite, deep fried pork skin crispied to perfection! Now, this is another heaven!

I love how the sweetness and the soft texture of fried camote goes well with the spiciness, saltiness and crunchiness of the chicharon. Plus some spicy fermented vinegar on the side.

I don't feel guilty at all! Hahaha sinful and heaven, I think are two the same words. Be random. Pick your choices with food or whatever. You'll never know.
