Last night we collected almost a kilo of really awesome brambles, from the hill above our village. We haven't really had any long periods without some rainfall this year, which means there is fantastic fruit and veg are growing wild all over the place.
What would you do with a harvest like this? It would be great to hear a few new ideas....
Blackberry pie!
We tend eat them as they are, or put them in smoothies, because we just can't resist the big juicy ones!
Also I like to freeze some to bake lovely crumbles, cakes, and pies when the weather turns autumnal. If you have loads I would make jam too, it's fairly straightforward and you can also make jam with frozen berries - this is good because you can eat what you want, freeze any 'leftovers' and when your freezer is bursting make the jam. Jams and chutneys make lovely gifts at Christmas too.
Looks incredible! Great for the brain and nervous system!
