2017 is the Year of Shitty DURIANS, so this is #throwback to 2015

in #food7 years ago

Just 2 years ago I paid ONLY RM10/BAG of durian kampung that legit tasted like D24 and XO. I kid you not.

Here's the proof.

It's an entirely different story NOW. Yesterday, I went to Ulu Langat to satisfy my cravings (first durian this whole year) and my god was I disappointed. Half of the durians were hard, barely tasty, and the largest one had one side gone sour. I paid RM72 for that shit too. Could've spent it on AEON's durians that are always 30% OFF instead, but I didn't because the fun part of eating durian is sitting on a plastic stool at the roadside and eating the durian flesh right out of the husk.

BUT OH WELL. I guess the durians of 2017 don't have much hope since it's been raining every day non-stop since Chinese New Year.

Throw back to the good ol' days when we can have a cheap (and good) durian feast anytime the craving kicks in. That's RM10 folks.

There was SO MUCH durian, we could make real durian cream puffs with 'em to be sold online. I don't remember how many durian cream puffs we made. Anyhow, year 2015 was literally durian runtuh (a Malay saying for 'windfall') for durian lovers and orchard owners. The fruits were produced, harvested, and sold in abundance.

I really hope that next year's yield would improve. It's been a long time since I had any good durian that are cheap. And for those of you who've never tried durians before, please put that in your bucket list. It's going to be so worth it. If you love it, HURRAY! If you hate it, well.... you get the 'bragging rights' to boast of your courage. Lol.

Signing off. Please enjoy this picturesque photo of my first love.

coming back to Malaysia this summer, i really hoped to satisfy my cravings. But i cant find any durians here :(

But my friend in Terengganu told me that there's a lot of durian there. Lucky her :(

Oooh! Well.... if you don't mind spending a bit more, there's a whole load of them in SS2. :)

we can call durian is an industry now.. way too pricey. so by having it as an industry, we can make a durian NGO to safeguard the price and i'm kidding myself. ^_~

That's actually a good idea. Keeps our competent gov from exporting all the good ones too. DURIAN WAS OURS TO BEGIN WITH ANYWAY

You got me emotional over durian. dammnnn hahahhaha

I always have cravings for durian! Let's go sometime!

This is the best of of the day for me. Best post here guys!

😂😂😂😂😂

Better than the supply of durians we get in Australia :( Frozen and thawed and refrozen and thawed to make sure they arrive here... I miss it!

Oh dear that's super sad. Do you ever get Musang King there??

This post made me cry 😪😪😪 as I feel your sadness

Ahhhh....the days of good cheap durians are gone, gone, GONE!. My family used to get them by the longgok.

Oh noes... i thought ppl who always order by the longgok would definitely have advantage of getting quality duriansss

This year is not a good durian year! Limited stock. Worst for rambutan

😭

Wait for the next season 🙏🙏

I'm so jeles

Borneo has RED DURIANS no? KL don't have! :(

will get a basket if they accept steem

Intro them to steem!

I loved durians too. But in Sarawak you can't buy 1 bag for $10. I am so happy that more Malaysians are joining Steemit. The other day we just had our first Kuching Steemit Meetup.
