The retail industry in India is a big deal. Even if you sell a product for rupee one profit, and the whole country buys it, you make a tremendous profit.
As many might know by now, my family and I take care of my mother in law who is suffering from dementia. We give her a glass of viva(seen in the picture). It is like an energy drink and also can be used as liquid food at times when people cannot or not able to eat proper meals. This is usually given to small children also, in India.
We usually buy one bottle per month. The bottle costs about twenty rupees more.
So, we buy a refill pack, wash the bottle and fill it. Just yesterday, we bought a new refill pack and the old bottle still had about two spoons left. So. I decided to transfer the contents to a 500gm bottle. It is then that I realized that the bottle had still loads of space left whereas the Viva brand bottle would be screaming for space when I filled the content from the refill pack.
Even if I bought a new bottle, the content would be below the neck. The bottle I used is a 500gm one and the Viva brand one is also supposedly a 500 gm one but in reality is not.
Is not the Indian consumer being cheated?

cheaters are everywhere so be careful 😉
yes indeed. Buying store packed dals from retail stores such as big bazaar is also risky because they might be selling cheap stuff
We should avoid buying this kind goods
This made me think of the evolution of 'Munch' chocolate bar.How they went from decently thick to very skinny later. They do it very slowly so people hardly notice.
yes, true. even expiry date is being compromised
This happens in most of the items. I filled my petrol tank with 10 liters of petrol but I got only 8 or 9 liters. Very bad. They take things for granted. But this one is more surprising from a well reputed organization.
The present day bournvita does not taste good like when we were children. I used to buy Amul shakthi but it is now unavailable.
I hope you asked the pump owner about it
