This delicious oriental dish usually order for take away, but don't shy it away, you can make it at home too, better than take aways :)
There are lots of variation how to make this chinese classic dish but it is with the sauce that makes this delicious dish outstanding.
Ingredients
- 1 lbs chicken breast (cut in 1' cubes)
- flour (1/2 cup)
- onion powder
- garlic powder
- salt and pepper
- soy sauce (2tbsp)
- water
For the Vegetables
- garlic
- ginger (thumb size)
- carrots (cube)
- green/red capsicum
- mushroom (optional)
- onion (quartered)
- pineapple chunks
For the Sauce
- reserved liquid from pineapple tin
- water (1 cup)
- brown sugar (2 tbsp)
- cornstarch (1/4) diluted in 1/4 cup water
- annato powder or orange food coloring
Preparations
- Combine flour, onion powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Add adequate amount of water to make a batter. Then add soy sauce.
- Drenched the cubed chicken and let it sit for 15 minutes.
- Fry the chicken in a minute on each side or until golden brown. Transfer to a plate with paper towel to absorbs excess oil and set aside.
- Meanwhile, in a sauce pan, make the sauce by combining the reserve liquid from pineapple tin, water, sugar food coloring or annato powder. Bring to a boil and simmer for few minutes.
- Dilute the cornstarch with the water and add in slowly to the mixture to create a thick sauce. Simmer for few minutes. Set aside.
- In a pan, sautee' garlic and ginger. Add in the carrots and capsicums, onion and mushroom. Cook until tender.
- Once the vegetable are tender, add in the sauce mixture and the fried chicken. Simmer for few minutes. Adjust the seasoning according to your liking.
- Serve warm with rice. Enjoy!
This delicious viand will surely love even by the most picky eaters. Consider trying it for dinner parties, it's a sure hit :)
