Mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana) 山竹

Mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana) is native to the Moluccas of Indonesia and Sunda Islands of the Malay archipelago. It is now commercially grown in most tropical areas of Asia with Thailand being the largest commercial producer. The tree grows up to 60 feet and can live and viably produce for over 100 years. Trees begin fruiting after 5 years. Have you tried mangoteen or have been able to successfully raise this fruit? Let us know by replying in the comments down below.

I haven't tried mangosteen fresh yet but they do sell freeze dried mangosteen at Trader Joe's and it's quite delicious.
