I woke up late and I just had this craving for my favorite food which is pork afritada. I rush to the bathroom to have a bath so that i'll be able to go to the market and buy ingredients. I suddenly remembered that my mom usually store meats and some vegetables on the refrigerator. I was lucky, I guess, that I already have the in need ingredients but sadly there were no pork. So I rush my way to the market to buy pork. When I got there I decided to try chicken.
Let's cook Chicken Afritada!
I have never done afritada using chicken meat before but there is no great difference other than the kind of meat used. Now let us prepare the ingredients that we need.
What are the Ingredients?
- Olive oil
- 2 medium sized potatoes
- 1 large carrot
- 1 red bell pepper
- 1 green bell pepper
- 1 kilo of chicken
- 1 onion
- 3 cloves of garlic
- 1 pouch of soy sauce
- 1 sachet of Magi Magic Sarap
- 1 cup of water
- 1 pouch of tomato paste
Are your ingredients already complete? Now let's cook Chicken Afritada together!
Let us cook Chicken Afritada
- Peel and quarter the potatoes. You can use knife to save your energy from washing too.many cooking tools but I used food peeler instead because it is more safe and faster. When using a knife, remember to always use chopping board to protect your kitchen surface.
- Peel and cut the carrot into cubes. I suggest for you to use food peeler to have a faster and easier task but please be careful in using knife specially when you are cutting.
- Core and slice the peppers into thick strips.
- Cut the chicken into serving pieces. This is trickier than cutting other ingredients since the skin of the chicken is so stubborn to get cut. You need to put more force on it but never forget to always be careful.
- Peel and slice the onion thinly. You know that onions are the silent hater since they make us cry so please be careful. That joke is extremely silly hahha I am so sorry.
- Peel and mince the garlic.
- Put olive oil on the pan and heat it over a medium heat.We are dealing with fire here so extreme caution is advisable. Wait until the oil gets hot.
- Stir fry the onion and garlic on the pan.
- Put the chicken on the pan. Every once in a while, turn them on sides until it become lightly brown.
- Add the potatoes and carrots on the pan. Wait until softened.
- Pour a cup of water and wait until it boils. Then add the bell peppers for like 30 seconds.
- Pour the magic sarap and after a while, puor a decent amount of soy sauce. These are in need to add more flavor to the food
- Lastly, pour a pouch of tomato paste. This is what makes an afritada. Without tomato, you can't call this as afritada.
Best served hot!
So that is it! I'll be glad if you'll try this at home since this is a go-to family dish. I am more thankful if this is useful in some ways. Thank you for your time.
