2 Tablespoons of Honey
A little extra milk( about 1/8 of a cup)
Hello, my fellow Steemians! I woke up today with a hankering for some ribs. So I ran out to the store and picked up 2 racks of some beautiful baby back ribs. You can go with any kind of barbecue sauce you like but for my money I recommend Sweet Baby Rays, This might be due to the fact every restaurant I ever worked at used it. Furthermore, you're gonna want to go with a thicker Sweeter sauce rather than a vinegar based sauce. I love barbeque, there is nothing like baby back ribs and once you've given the slow cooker ribs a try you'll never go back to a grill. This is a dish where you want to go low and slow on your crockpot. This will be cooking all day but its well worth the wait. It's a simple recipe that will impress whoever your cooking for.
Cut your onion into thin slices and break apart. Line the bottom of the crockpot with the onions. These onions will one add flavor and two work as a barrier so the ribs don't have a chance to stick to the bottom. Depending on the size of your slow cooker you have to cut ribs to fit. I have a rather large one so I can just cut each rack in half and fit them in. First, you'll want to season the ribs. Salt, pepper, and garlic place the ribs in the crockpot. Next, combine about half of your bbq sauce and a liter of root beer in a large bowl and pour over ribs. Set crockpot on high for one hour just to get up to temperature. Reduce to low and cook for 6 to 7 hours. You'll know they're done when the bones become loose.
I'm no baker so when it comes to the cornbread I use a pre-mixed box but I add some ingredients to make it better. A little honey and extra milk and of course some fresh corn from the cob. When you mix this up you are going to come out with some moist slightly sweeter cornbread. I'm a big believer in starting with something pre-made and jazzing it up to make a better end product. One it saves time and two when it comes to baking I need all the help I can get. Preheat oven to 400 and mix ingredients, the batter will be slightly lumpy let batter rest for 5 minutes. Pour into greased pan and cook for 20 - 25 minutes. Cut into squares and serve with butter.
Bring 8 cups of water and a teaspoon of salt to boiling on the stove. Add cleaned corn and let return to a boil, cover and turn off the burner. Let cook for 5 to 7 minutes and remove from water. Serve with butter and salt.
Now to finish my ribs, when the bones become loose very carefully transfer to a cookie sheet. Turn on broiler to 500 degrees and put oven rack on 2nd highest rack setting. Slather a thin layer of bbq sauce on ribs. You want to let the sauce carmelize under the broiler and remove. Spread the remaining bbq sauce on ribs and return to oven and let broil till the 2nd layer of bbq sauce bubbles, remove and let stand for a couple minutes.
Alright, Steemians I hope you enjoy, Let me know how you liked the meal! Bon appetit!- @slowcookingchef
