Well, it is clear that there is no definite number of times one should eat. Science also seems to be providing solid evidence about it. There are those who claim six small meals a day works for them. Others claim that a three hefty-meal plan works best. Still, there is a number that is in support of two meals a day and further still a number supporting a single meal daily.
The number of times you should eat a day is dependent on your body system. And you should find what works for you. Due to this, you can read on to determine the number of times you should eat. Below are 5 steps on how often should you eat.
Determine which meal plan works for you.
Now we know that it does not matter how many times you should eat in a day. But individually it does matter. Some people are ok with six meals in a day while others are ok with three. You can experiment and see which plan works for you. Which plan make you function optimally?
Eating six times a day keeps you in a fed state with high sugar levels all through. However, eating fewer meals will assist you to go in the post-absorptive state; as a result, you burn more fats and enjoy the benefits of fasting. However, other people burn fats better in the fed state. So just determine your state.
Know your energy requirements.
Depending on occupation different people will have different energy requirements. This ranges from 2000kcal to about 3000kcal. You should split this into the number of times you eat. If it is thrice daily and your energy requirement is 3000kcal, the take 1000kcal in every meal. If you are to go with the six meal plan then take 500kcal in each meal.
Shop your meals early enough
Well, it would be very demoralizing if you start a meal plan and fail to stick to it. So you should shop your meals early enough. And it would help if you shop in bulk. Do not skip the meals you have planned for. If it is taking a healthy snack then ensure you do. Buying meals early enough will assist you to stick to your daily eating plan well.
Get your recipes in order and have a variety.
Have you ever gone to the kitchen and wondered what you should eat. This alone can make you deviate from the number of meals you should eat in a day. To avoid this you should keep a list of recipes intact, especially if you are the type that functions best with six meals in a day. You should spice up your recipes with variety. This will help you stick to the number of times you should eat in
a day.
After you discover what works for you, stick to it.
It is not easy to determine the number of times in a day that you can eat and function optimally. If you do find it, then stick to it. Do not deviate from it, under special occasions. You know deviating from your plan might result in your system confusion. You might end up taking more calories that will result
in abnormal weight gains.

Hello @spellmaker!! I have never tried full days fastings!! But I am trying ketosis which is beneficial when you follow a half day fast and eat in the afternoons. Have you tried? And how was your experience? :)
Haven't tried fasting yet. Still gathering info on how it should be properly done. Lots of material to go through.

You should eat as you breathe
This is best and most natural way to eat for humans. Let me explain:
First of all, you have to forget what are you thought in school that we are meat eaters in prehistoric times. We are not We are fruit eaters, and in our nature is to eat all the times without thinking about it.
Our ancestors walked thru forest and eat berries all the time
Eat to live. Don't live to eat. Whilst food can be an amazing part of our lives, some basic foods can taste as wonderful as fine dining in a restaurant. Depending on the circumstances. You have to get the balance right, don't you? I must say I don't really care to spend all day thinking about food, there are better things in life to occupy my daily thoughts with. I often just go with the flow where eating is concerned. You need both a healthy body and mind.

I am surprisingly impressed with this post...Most posts on health seem to say "this is the right way" yet you are basically saying there is no "right way" everyone is different and you have to find what works for you and your life style.
