Welcome back into Missy Chef’s Kitchen! Today, I’m going to cook a Traditional Malay Cuisine, “Sambal Petai Prawn”. This dish is very easy and fast to prepare and it taste really good if you have a good recipe of Sambal.

Quick Fact about PETAI?
You can called it Bitter Bean. It’s origin from Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, Philippines and peninsular Thailand, it's a very common food. The pods will turn green to black when it ripped. It has a lot of vitamins and study showed that Petai has a lot of heath benefits for Depression, Anemia, Blood Pressure, Constipation etc. For more information, you can check it here.
臭豆的由来?
你可以叫它巴克豆。它来自马来西亚,印度尼西亚,文莱,菲律宾和泰国半岛,是非常普篇常见的食物。当它成熟时,豆荚将从绿色变成黑色。臭豆富有很多维生素和维他命。研究证明,臭豆也对抑郁症,贫血症,血压,便秘等有健康保健的益处。有关更多臭豆的资料,你可以查看这里。
Let’s start cooking!
Ingredients 食材
(2-3 servings) (2-3人份)
8 Prawns | 8 只大虾 |
---|---|
250g Petai | 250克 臭豆 |
Homemade Sambal | 自制叁峇酱 |
1 Big red onion | 1 大红葱 |
3 Tbsp Oil | 3大匙油 |
Salt to taste | 少许盐 |
Step 1
Heat up the pan with oil. Fried the red onions till frangrant and slightly golden.

烧热3大匙油,炒香红葱。
Step 2
Add in Sambal.
步骤二
加入叁峇酱。
Step 3
Add in Petai.
步骤三
加入臭豆。
Step 4
Last, add in prawns and salt to taste. Cook in high heat until prawns are fully cooked.
步骤四
最后,加入大虾再放少许盐调味,然后大火炒至虾熟。
Ready to serve~
准备上盘咯~
Serve with a bowl of hot five grains rice, the best of the best 😋
配上一碗热腾腾的五谷米饭,一级棒呀😋

啊!我好愛臭豆。但在台灣沒見過這東西。
小时候的我不是很喜欢臭豆,现在就特别爱吃☺️ 请问你是在哪里吃过臭豆呀?
哈哈 我也是長大後才愛吃的。小時候都不敢吃。臭豆是大人的食物。
我是KL人。以前在家我媽會煮。
(但煮臭豆那天,家裡的廁所會很可怕 😀)

沒聽過臭豆,聞起來很臭嗎?看起來好像毛豆喔!
臭豆其实并不臭,喜欢的人会觉得很香,就像榴莲一样。。。妈妈说臭豆可以清尿道,所以吃了之后上厕所时会很可怕,就如@ygern 所说的。。。
