Miss. Delicious #49 - A visit to the legendary French macaroon bakery, Ladurée!

Greetings Steemit friends:

When it comes to food, France is surely a powerhouse in terms of it's influence in the foodosphere. With Michelin guide restaurants and Michelin starred restaurants taking a lot of the limelight, it is often easy to miss out on the little cafes, bakeries and sweet makers that dazzle us with their taste sense inducing delights.

Today, I'm introducing one of the most famous of these bakeries. Ladurée.

IMG_1796.JPG

Founded in 1862 by Louis-Ernest Ladurée, it has since become an iconic bakery for it's Macaroons and I've read that it sells over 15,000 macaroons each day!

With 6 stores in Paris alone, and nearly 100 stores world wide, Ladurée's popularity and reputation is only on the rise.
After a long day of sightseeing, I decided to visit on my last day in Paris before taking the flight back.
Aside from desserts, Ladurée actually serves cooked meals which I've heard are also very good. I decided to try both.
Let's take a look !

Ladurée is really recognisable because of it's gold lettering and green background for it's logo. It has a real sense of class, but thankfully the Macaroons are actually quite affordable. Macaroons are often given as presents and Ladurée perfectly caters for this with a very large variety of beautifully made gift boxes ranging in size from just a couple of macaroons to large gift boxes enough to share with a whole party of people.

Entering the shop, I feel like i'm walking into a French imperial court room, the frames for the mirrors and walls are golden and we have some very beautiful artwork for wall paper.

There are three menu's, one for desserts, one for drinks, and finally one for the cooked food.

With so many different Macaroons to choose from, I ordered 10 of their most popular to start!

Each macaroon freshly baked. They taste absolutely delightful - certainly a lot better than buying them at concessions!

Next up, we have Organic chicken breast “Vol-au-vent”, wild mushrooms and cream sauce.

How could I not have French fries in France??

IMG_1866.JPG

Organic Chicken fillet, romaine and sucrine salad with Caesar dressing, parmesan biscuits,
anchovies and bread crust!

An amazing Macaroon cake tower! I didn't order this, but it sure looks spectacular!

wow, what an honour, thank you arcange!

You're welcome. Great job you have done!

It's cool how the food is presented. The chicken is in what looks like some sort of baked can, the fries forming a square fence, and the cake tower looking to reach a few feet high. How interesting!

What do the macaroons taste like? Are they sweet cookies? What filling do they have?

Like usual, everything looks tasty, and you look like you are enjoying your food and drink. Thanks for sharing!

Presentation really makes the food seem that much better! The macaroons are kind of like a fusion between a cookie and a cake. The outer layer is thin and quite fragile, crumbles as soon as you take a bite or even when you hold it. First you feel the texture of the outside then you are whisked away to euphoria from the tastes of its inside. Usually the inside isn't very crunchy, quite the opposite actually!

That looks like my heaven, what a beautiful elegant place and the food looks amazing :)

Thanks Karen seems like you and me will be going to the same heaven hehe

Now that would be good to have some nice company whilst we stuff our faces lol

What a great life you have, eating and taking photos and sharing with the rest of us. You are a lucky woman!

Personally, I find macaroon too sweet for me

So fitting right ?! I think it depends on which flavours, some of the more sour fruit ones might suit your fancy more!

Oh, yes. sour fruit flavored will be interesting to try. I have not had any before.

Very great pics, yummy, lol. Paris is a very nice place to discover the fine french cusine at the same time you visit the city. At least if we can still walk to visit more after each meal, that's alright, lol. Have a very nice day !

Thanks magicalwolf! You are so right! Paris is full of delicious food, after eating it's also full of lots of great landmarks and monuments to see on foot! Incidently, I had walked for perhaps 6 hours prior to visiting laduree so it was a much needed break!

I admit that in the beginning i was saying like yes you just eat somewhere but wow it's just awesome this place. And it's look like good me too i want one macaron :p ahah

Be sure to visit the laduree store in Paris, they do taste different ( better) than the macaroons you'll find in small concessions elsewhere..

Ladurée這幾年在台灣很紅... 馬卡龍還真是適合你的點心... Sweet and Colorful... :)

哈哈谢谢deanliu,我确实很喜欢彩虹的东西,台湾本土的小吃也很赞呢:)

Macaron vs. Macaroon

Anyway, nice post. Looks like a really beautiful and enjoyable outing.

Oh no! Smooth, you spotted my dilemma, I always felt confused as to use which, in Chinese, both are the same pronunciation. I'm glad you corrected me though, now I know!

Wow, that's a really Royal-looking place. The food looks as delicious as it can possibly look! Great photos as always :)

thanks sauravrungta, it's definitely a grand place, but very reasonable prices!

Fantastic post, keep them coming!
This words for good day and your mood
And I want to give you a poem good word
"Good word"
As good word ears stroking.
And warm glance warms the soul,
It's like rain plantlets happy,
As the first snow,forest rejoicing.
When the word beats a living soul.
When look solid as basalt.
It's like snow in September on the grass.
It's like rain on asphalt!

thank you for that wonderful bit of prose there, I wish I could use language as well as you!

I never dine in ..since there is always so many people waiting...thank you for sharing the post
