It's cold. That can mean only one thing, whisky. Hot Whisky!
I am a big fan of the Hot Toddy, why? Well, you can't really mess it up. You need five basic components. Alcohol, sweetener, citrus, spices and hot water. I prefer whisky but you can use anything from brandy to gin, infact maybe I should start a Hot Toddy series?
Here's the recipe:
Alcohol - 1.5 oz Scotch (I went with Monkey Shoulder)
Sweetener - 3/4 oz Honey syrup (equal parts honey and water, boiled and cooled as a syrup for easier mixing)
Citrus - 1/2 oz Lemon juice
Spices - A couple of cloves, a sprinkle of cinnamon and a cinnamon stick (this is where you can have fun playing with different spices)
Hot water - Water...that has boiled
Mix it all up in a heatproof glass, I love these double-walled ones we got from London Drugs years ago. I think they were $2 for a pack of 2 on sale - so we bought a bunch!
Garnish with a cinnamon stick or a citrus wheel.
Sip and enjoy!
