So, what happens when you mix a doughnut with a cupcake? A whole lot of awesomeness, that's what!
One of my weaknesses is sweet cinnamon; if it's on offer I can never say know (hense why I'll never get a beach body!!)
These doughtnuts or donuts - these are NOT deep-fried but baked in the oven so an easier opition to make, but still have that doughnut texture and will be sure to please everyone.
Luckily making them is also super easy, just remember to not over mix as you'll end up with tough doughnuts and nobody wants that! When making any cakes the rule is always to only mix enough to combine everything, anything on top of this is a waste of energy and can ruin your results.
To start yourself off you'll need to make 'burnt butter', this is just what it sounds like - put the butter in a pan and heat it over a medium heat until it turns brown! It will then have a deeper almost nutter aroma. Once cool beat with sugar and eggs before adding in the flour and spices and baking them for 20 mintues in cupcake cases.
Once out of the oven leave to cool slightly and remove them all from the cases.
You're now ready to brush them with melted butter and roll in a sugar/cinnamon mixture to finish them off.
No idea what I was doing here - the things that go through my head worry me at times!
To make around 24 of these bad boys, you'll need
150g Butter
225g Sugar
3 tsp Baking Powder
2 Large Eggs
240ml Whole Milk
1/2 tsp Nutmeg
1/2 tsp Allspice
1/4 tsp Ginger
1/4 tsp Cloves
1 tsp Salt
2 tsp Orange Zest
TO DUST
100g Butter
225g Caster Sugar
3 tsp Cinnamon
When finished, make sure you stand around the kitchen showing off your creation to anyone that will listen!!! haha
