How to make Kalakand
Cuisine: Indian
Preparation Time: 2 mins
Cooking Time: 15 mins
Setting Time: 3 hours
Total Time: 3 hours 17mins
INGREDIENTS
- Grated fresh cottage cheese- 2 1/4 cups
- Milk powder- 1 1/2 cups
- Fresh cream- 1 1/2 cups
- Sugar- 3/4 cup
- Cardamom powder- 1/2 tbsp
For The Garnishing
- Almond Slivers- 1 tbsp
- Pistachio slivers- 1 tbsp
METHOD
1. Mix all the ingredients, except the cardamom powder, in a broad pan and mix it well. Cook it on a low flame till the mixture thickens and starts leaving the sides of the pan with continuous stirring.
2. Now turn off the flame and add the cardamom powder and mix it well. Transfer this mixture to a greased tray and spread it evenly.
3. Garnish this mixture with chopped almond and pistachio slivers and Keep it aside and allow it to cool for 3 hours.
4. Cut this mixture into square pieces and serve it immediately or serve chilled.
Kala kand is the barfiii i like the most...Can gallop one kg pack at a time...lol. Thanks for the recipe...i am surely gonna try it...

@travel-cuisine very nice article and thank you for the recipe as well . I read somewhere once, the origin of the kalakand is somewhere in Rajasthan. And the preparation of Kalakand varies from Places to places. While the North East and East part of India i.e Bengal prepares somewhat like milky white kalakand, the same thing is popular in fried version in the western part of India, where it is commonly known as Ajmeri Kalakand.
