Desserts fulfil everyone’s desires in delightful ways. Desserts and sweets are always served at the end of a meal, while few cultures consider it serving at the beginning, and some cultures in the world do not even have the concept of the dessert at all.


It's always nice to prepare your desserts at home rather than buying them from the market because you can customise them according to your preferences.


Indian traditional desserts are such that everyone has much reason to love them, be they kids or the elderly. There might be many shortcuts but sometimes, the traditional method of making desserts yields the richest taste. The authentic recipe of Gajar ka Halwa proves this. When you eat Gajar Ka Halwa, it's rich and enticing, sugary taste just melts in your mouth.



Here is a quick and tasty recipe of Gajar Ka Halwa

Preparation Time: 20 Mins

Cooking Time: 25 Mins

Total Time: 45 Mins


INGREDIENTS





  • Thickly Grated Carrot- 3 cups
  • Desi Ghee- 2 tbsp
  • Milk- 7 cups
  • Sugar- 4 tbsp
  • Grated low-fat Milk solids (mawa)- 4 tbsp
  • Raisins (kish mish)- 1 tbsp
  • Chopped Almonds (badam)- 2 tbsp
  • Cardamom (elaichi) powder- 1 tbsp


METHOD





1. Heat the desi ghee (clarified butter) in a pressure cooker and add the grated carrots and sauté them on a medium flame for 9 to 10 minutes, with continuous stirring.





2. Now add the milk in the pressure cooker and mix it well and cook till the 2nd whistle and turn off the flame. Now allow the rest of the steam to escape before you open its lid.





3. Transfer this material into a broad non-stick pan and add the sugar in it. Mix it well and cook on a low flame for 7 to 9 minutes with continuous stirring.





4. Now add the milk solids and mix it well and cook for more 5 to 6 minutes with continuous stirring.





5. Add the raisins, almonds and cardamom powder and cook for another 2-3 minutes. Your Halwa is ready.





6. Serve hot or warm
