Foodie-licious: My version of Bangus (Milkfish) Belly Steak 🐟

in #food7 years ago

BANGUS BELLY I LOVE! So easy to do and very satisfying to eat :) Be sure to prepare yourself an armor (laughs) when frying this fish. To be able to overcome this situation be sure your fish is drained very well, for the water mixed with hot frying oil often results in a disaster. (you know what I mean) Here's my recipe! GOODLUCK!

BANGUS BELLY STEAK

Ingredients:

2 medium bangus or pre-packed boneless bangus belly
2 big white or red onion (I used the red one)
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 cup soy sauce
1 1/2 cups water
4-5 kalamansi, squeezed/ juiced
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp cornstarch, dissolved in water
salt to taste (optional)
1 stalk spring onion to garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Heat the pan with enough cooking oil. Fry your bangus belly until crispy but not overcooked (it will result in a rubbery kinda fish meat and we don't want that)

  2. Drain fried fish with paper towel, set aside.

  3. Saute garlic and onions for 3mins.

  4. Turn your stove onto medium heat, put soy sauce and water, simmer for 3mins.

  5. Put sugar and kalamansi add a pinch of salt if necessary.

  6. Put cornstarch and add the fish, simmer for 5mins.

Done! Put it on a serving plate and garnish with fresh spring onions and walla! LET'S EAT!
