This Organic, Non-Dairy Ice Cream Will Make You Rethink Our Use of Animal Milk! ❤ (Plus Fresh Cherries & Raspberries from the Orchard)

in #food7 years ago (edited)

It's no secret that Animal based food products are a health risk in numerous ways.. But thankfully there are now numerous plant based replacement products available that help ease the transition towards a plant based diet. Today I am wondering if this Ice Cream, made just a few miles from my home, could be one of the best ice creams on Earth!

my ice cream

As a 'meat' eater for over 20 years, I thought it might be tough to switch to a non-dairy diet - but in truth, once our heart is set on achieving our true needs and desires - new doors are opened and ease can be the natural way of things from there on. Part of what made the transition easier was the fact that there are, for example, vegetarian/vegan cheeses available that mean that we hardly even notice no longer using Animal sourced products at all. There really is no valid argument for continuing to exploit and abuse animals when the only reason we had previously is no longer relevant at all.

Enter 'Booja Booja' Organic, Plant based Ice-cream.

I am in no way affiliated with Booja Booja and am honestly just sharing my experience of their product because it is genuinely the best Ice cream I have tasted and also because it feels right to help them help us all by easing the stress of so many animals kept in bondage due to human taste addiction.

Sometimes though, the universe sets up interesting encounters that I pay attention to and that occurred with the owner of Booja Booja a few years ago here when he turned up on my doorstep - without me knowing he was involved with them at all. I had ordered some empty plastic, food grade, barrels to use in the garden to store water for my veg/fruit growing experiments and as it turned out, I had bought them from the Booja Booja factory, which is close to my home. Not only did I get some great barrels on that day, but they had accidentally left about a year's supply of organic agave syrup in the bottom of one of them - so that kept me and some friends super sweet for a while too :)

I wondered if one day I would speak with him again as I was impressed to find his operation on my doorstep in an area that is heavily populated by farmers of cattle who have no care at all for vegan ideals.

The universe speaks

Even after several years I had never tasted any Booja Booja products because I thought they were too expensive. However, today I saw some of their ice cream in a shop freezer, with no price on and by chance, the shop owner sold it to me at what turned out to be a reduced price and so I finally learned why the price is higher than other ice creams here. The ingredients are very high quality and organic - so the resulting experience is sublimely balanced and essentially perfect. The one I had today was chocolate and hazelnut - which allowed me to compare it to the other choco/hazelnut one I recently tried from Alpro. I can say, without doubt that the booja booja version is worth the extra money - It's just amazing. :)

In theory, the more of us that buy and ask for these products, the cheaper they will become via the principle of 'Economies of scale' - In other words, the more that gets made - the cheaper it is to make and sell.

Fruit picking in the local orchard

On the way home, I thought to check in on the local fruit orchard as it is about time to pick from their cherry trees and raspberry patch - sure enough, we arrived at exactly the right time and came away with containers of fruit for way cheaper than the supermarket prices and at a higher, fresher quality. Win!

Veganism can easily result in a higher quality and MORE varied diet

While I'm not saying that ice cream is a foundational corner of a healthy food pyramid - it is definitely true that there is nothing that I want to eat from my old non vegan life that I cannot replace or replicate now from plants in a way that results in something I like even MORE! I never thought I would be saying this when I began this exploration 10+ years ago, but I am happy to report this today.

Future sharing more on what's working here to improve health and nutrition

I've tried and explored numerous natural options for boosting health, mental acuity and energy over the last few years and I have some great recommendations for you all - so I'll be sure to post some more of them in the near future here.

I totally get what you are talking about.
When I was still eating meat I thought it would be near impossible to give it up...
Not even talking about diary or eggs, but once I actually tried it out, I found it actually quite easy. One of the things that certainly makes the transition easier are defenitely all the plant based food alternatives.
I toatlly share your opinion: some of the plant based replicas are even better than the animal product versions...
Well, anyway, thanks for this article, and if you are interested in my story you can just head to my page and read the post I published a few minutes ago :)

Organic ice cream is not made of cattle milk? Never heard of it before.

'Organic' simply means that the ingredients used are non synthetic.. Although the 'legal' organic standards do currently, unfortunately allow for a certain amount of synthetic material to be in organic ingredients. So you could have organic ice cream made with cow milk or without cow milk.

I'm a nice cream kinda guy, but I too stumbled upon a birthday cake dough thingie in Sprouts supermarket. It was a very impulsive purchase and I was shocked at how good it was. I don't remember the name of the brand and I don't want to remember as it was really good! Although I would really like to just eat home grown veggies, I think sometimes it's our duty yo buy some of these products every now and then if they're company is plant based, hence it's not just for profit but the founders are producing the products for fellow vegans. To become Vegan in 2017 is extremely easy now and I know a lof of people think like me and see junk food vegans and vegans and plant based vegans, not to mention the rest. These 3 entrance lifestyles help the planet, I don't care who disagrees with me. So yes hail vegan ice cream and dude how much syrup!!! :)

Greetings! Great points - thanks for responding here.
hmm.. It was at least 5 Litres of syrup.. more than enough to pay for the cost of the barrels. LOL

Oh boy Booja Booja is my favourite nice-cream... thanks for reminder... runs to the freezer : D

hehe - injoy!

i need to acquire a vitamix.
