Ever look at the successful foodies who post those mouth-watering pics and manage to somehow get paid to do it? I have figured it out and assembled this easy-to-follow, step-by-step, guaranteed-or-your-money-back system!
Do I know how to write a hook or what? Read on and thank me with upvotes later when you succeed.
Step 1 - Create an account on #hive
Not as difficult as it sounds. Afterall, you are on the Hive blockchain as you are reading this but don't be spooked. The only difference is that when you create your account using your preferred method here https://signup.hive.io/ you will be able to create content and upvote to earn rewards. What makes this special is that YOU own your wallet, content, and get to choose your feed rather than an algorythm.
Probably the most important step but I couldn't stop at 1 so here are the rest.
Step 2 - Visit a Fancy Restaurant
March right through the doors of a place like https://revival.house if you have the moxy, or someplace you frequent and enjoy. Your pictures and description will share the experience with the world and practice combining the right shots and words can transform the simplest cafe into a palace.
Step 3 - Be "One of Those People"
That's right. Take photos of your food. I would suggest parking your phone right on the edge of your plate and shamelessly steal my Extreme Dramatic Close-up style of shot. Always remember, fries are foreground or background and make great lines for fuzzying up with depth of field.
You will appear to be one of those doods who posts food pics on social media for attention and ego. Worry not, Step 4 takes away that stigma.
Step 4 - Post to your Hive Blog!
When you post to a Facebook or other web 2.0 platform, you are pumping your attention, effort and content into some soulless corporation's coffers for the relinquishable privilege of them allowing you to have an account. They are not completely useless, but we will get to that later.
Because your food blog is on Hive, even the tiniest upvote gives you a monetary reward. Depending upon how long you practice, engage and curate, those rewards can increase to the point where your meal is paid for. When you are earning money posting about food, you are officially a professional food blogger! Easy as that. Bonus points for using the #foodie and other related tags for more community exposure.
Bonus Steps
- Copy the link to your post and share it on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and your other preferred platforms. More readers are better and some of those readers will follow your lead by creating an account, then their upvotes will be worth something too. Tag those businesses!
- Link the websites of the places you like. Even if nobody clicks on the link, it shows up on dozens of new webpages associated with the key words you use to describe your experience and links back to the restaurant's webpage. Google loves this and increases their search ranking (SEO) with each post and linkback.
- If you performed step 1 years ago and already lucky enough to have 1400 followers, don't hesitate to tell the owner if he/she/they/etc visit your table to say hello. Things only get better!
- Accept invitations to be a part of exclusive new menu sampling events in exchange for a post and sharing the pictures you take with the social media person for use.
- Be happy with your income diversification and wonderful food experience as is, become a social media influencer as a profession, or just open your own digital marketing firms like I did with @town-crier https://towncriermarketing.ca Completely up to you.
- HAVE DESSERT!
Give It a Try!
If you are afraid it is more complicated than this easy guide, I dare you to give it a try and let me know how you do.
Feel free to share so that other #foodies can own their creative content and followers.
Nice tutorial @zekepickleman! Definitely a nice step-by-step walkthrough for newbies here. These are all very beautiful photos! Great post and have a nice day! 😀
Thank you for the feedback!
Besides your attention and insight, the photos are perhaps the most engaging part of foodie posts for sure.
Content + Newtorking + Time = Success on Hive and food is a wonderful part of the content.
Exactly! Whether taking pictures of someone else's food or your own, the passion and love added to these foodie posts are the ones that catch my eye.
Did you not miss a step?
begin satire
Step 6: Obnoxiously ask food-serving places for food at no cost, because "I'm doing it for my followers" and get laughed out of restaurants.
end satire
I am one who prefers to eat food, the only time I photograph food is when I'm at a Wedding and getting paid to do it :D
Otherwise, I eat it too quickly to let it be savoured.
I may have to amend my guide with your point! Maybe under becoming ‘one of THOSE people”. ;)
Oh, no, you can't do that. I expect royalties and an appearance payment, in perpetuity.
That is reasonable.
I will make installments via upvotes while I wait for the message to perpetuate and another legion of followers to join the cause. ;)
My counter offer.
important step for sure. HA

Hi @zekepickleman, I started my journey here mid 2017, and food blogging still is my favourite; in the kitchen or restaurants. My hubby knows it's photos first, then he can tuck in😉
Hive is a great platform, learning and earning at the same time about different cuisines, as well as making friends with people from all over the word.
Great post on how to start a food blog, I hope this inspires more.
I only share links to my food blogs on twitter but will look at your tips, so thank you for that🤗
It is great isn’t it?!?
Those who know me are aware I don’t take myself too seriously. I was assembling this post initially to be funny and share some food shots but it got me thinking. I do get paid in a few ways for my content and my wife also knows to let me snap a pic before digging in on date nights. ;)
Anyhow, if existing users get a chuckle and maybe add food blogging to their regular blog rotation, I think that is a good thing. If even 1 real food blogger reads this at the right time and gives it a try, the world will be a better place!
I take pictures of all my dinners, and my sisters and I trade showing off what we are having for dinner. I lost tonight with a turkey dinner. Yes. How dare they! I even had cranberry. On a Wednesday night.
I should do a food blog, and perhaps time will allow me soon. Winter was crazy busy and people cooked for me all winter!
Great post for people to start their own foodie adventure! Hope you are having a great week!
Ah yes Denise gets it!
A fun content idea that gets plenty of engagement when done with style is a gift for everyone.
The #foodie community is a vibrant one too and we can all make time for food and our blogs.
It really is! I have to agree. I need to get a little better with time management! It is truly a wonderful community!
Delicious looking photos. Fun instructions for someone who wants to start getting something for those foodie pictures. Makes sense to me since they get nothing for them on Facebook, Twitter, TickTok or Instagram.
I discovered Hive long after I posted any real content on platforms like Facebook. I didn’t see the allure of pumping a platform with my content for their profit and all I get is the satisfaction of a bunch of worthless likes.
This post is supposed to be fun but so is your blog and if I can add food into the rotation, anyone can.
Bob appetite!
That's awesome. Next time we eat out, I will have to remember all this 😀
Oh wow
This is a very good explanation
Thanks so much for sharing
Hopefully it will add more food from around the globe to my feed too!
Nowadays I cook hamburger at home and it becomes as good as the ones in fast-foods! 😋
Absolutely. I dont knowcwhere you are but a $20 burger is not as fancy as it once was.
I even occasionally take shots of food prepared at home to share!
Istanbul
Have food and other basic prices increased dramatically there as they have here?
We have hyperinflation since last year.
Fun, interesting and gorgeous looking post. Hehe, I see that you’ve got everything perfectly planned. ❤️💕🍟🌮🥗🥙🥮🥧🫕🍱🍰🍷
Haha not as much perfectly planned as just always ready to take pics for the blog. Being in digital marketing for small businesses, I know the value of content, engagement and back links. The benefits of blogging about food are many!
This is a great tutorial. I've been writing food posts lately and I can improve my posts thanks to you. I was even thinking of going to a restaurant soon, now I can enjoy my upvotes with peace of mind 😂.
Haha you get it!
Shamelessly douche it up with a photo session at your table and tell 'em Zeke told you it was alright! ;)
The hard part is writing the post! But nice advertisement for Hive.
Surely I don’t make it look difficult do I? Picture, comment, picture, comment.
If I can do it, anyone can.
You do it very well if you ask me.
Wow, that food looks so good! Good steps to improve in the wonderful world of food, greetings from Argentina!
Vamos Argentina!!
I would love to see some of the food you have there!
I tried.. but I keep eating the food before I photo it! :(
It does take a little practice indeed! Very yummy practice though.
