Hi there my Steemit friends and followers!
You might have already noticed that #foodphotography contest hosted by @juliank is one of those I rarely submit photos in. Now don´t get me wrong here - I love food and I gulp down a lot every day but to me, taking photos of food is actually very difficult.
Today, however, I will make a little exception as I would like to show you some of the Mexican dishes we had the privilege to enjoy when we lived in this beautiful Central American country. Mexican cuisine is popular all over the world and there are dozens (if not hundreds) of different dishes that the Mexicans enjoy preparing and eating.
I would say my favorite Mexican food was burrito but sadly, I somehow forgot to capture this iconic Mexican dish so I am going to show you something else today.
These are tacos, a traditional Mexican dish consisting of a corn or wheat tortilla folded or rolled around a filling that can include anything from pork, chicken, beef, seafood, vegetables, cheese etc.
Usually eaten just with hands, tacos are typically garnished with hot sauce, chili pepper, guacamole, avocado, coriander and veggies such as onions, cucumbers, tomatoes, and lettuce. It is just delicious!
These are tostadas. Tostadas are similar to tacos but the tortillas used for tostadas are usually a bit bigger and they are deep fried. You can have your tostada filled with pretty much anything. This one included salmon...
...and this one came with shrimp fritters. They were both absolutely fantastic! :)
Now when it comes to Mexican beer, Corona is by far the most common association but there are actually many other Mexican beer brands you can choose from. Local people usually prefer brands like these (Sol and Dos Equis) to Corona that is generally considered "the touristy beer" :)
I also drank a lot of these...
...and even tried this banana liquer called Sisi :D Not that bad but it was incredibly sweet!
What is your favorite Mexican dish or drink? Let me know in the comments :)

Wow, thank you! :) What a nice surprise :)
I love burritos! When I traveled in USA I ate lots of burritos from Mexican restaurants! :)
I love burritos too :) I used to buy them right on the street for just 45 pesos (about 2 USD)
Wow! That's cheap! :D
Believe it or not, I was just yesterday thinking about tacos and I realized I've actually never had one :/
From these, I'd go for tostada filling with normal non-deepfried taco :)
Now you have an official reason to visit a Mexican restaurant in Innsbruck ;) I bet there are many.
wow looks very delicious. Have you ever combined Tamales, I love Tamales.
regards @storner
Nope, never tried tamales :) Will do next time.
Looks so yummy!
It was :)))
My God, friend @phortun, these meals look delicious, since he killed with the shrimp fritters, I love seafood, I love everything about the sea, and all those meals aroused my appetite, the wow wow tacos, delicious, gauge proboca hand for the pc and take one and eat it to the end, grateful for your publication and for showing us what he enjoyed in Mexico, Greetings from Venezuela.
Hehe, thanks for this nice comment :)) I am sure Venezuelan cuisine must be good too ;)
Actually I prefer tacos over burritos so I'm in love with your pics. Getting hungry :O
Haha, you are welcome :D

Great post! And it seems you had also a great day with the good food and drinks. :-)
My favorite Mexican food is handmade wraps. Fast and easy to make yourself.
Thanks :) Handmade Mexican wraps are awesome!
Cool shots. Love Mexican food too. If i remember correctly no one even drinks Corona in mexico, its mostly Sol, right?
Yeah, you remember that right :) The locals mostly drink Sol, XX, Tecate and some other brands ;)
