Filipinos love to eat. That's a fact. That is why buffet type of eating is so "in" here in the Philippines. Even boodle type (wherein different foods are all arrange on top of a banana leaf) became a hit. On top of that Filipino people takes pride in their families and friends. Combine it and you'll come up with a bunch of people eating together while enjoying each other’s company. Maybe that is why celebrations always comes with a lot of foods. May it be a baby's first month in the world, birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, reunions, to celebrating holidays like Christmas, New Years, and not to mention fiesta celebrations.
One of the most common food found in the table during celebrations is the all-time favorite “Lechon Baboy” or Roasted Whole Pig. It is almost never complete without it. Whenever people mention that word celebration, the first thing that pops up in mind is the ever crunchy skin of the lechon. Even the common people tries and saves money just to have it on the table.
The next two images below is a sample of a simple birthday party. Just look at that skin. That just doesn't look good. It tastes great as well. Mind you, after 30 minutes, all that was left was the bones and bits of pieces and the head. Also present is the picture are pork lumpia, humba (a pork dish that's also a hit!), fried chicken, and fried fish.
Ofcourse, a birthday is never complete without a cake. There's also a leche plan courtesy of the celebrant's relative.
These next two images are from a wedding. The lechon is ever present. The other dishes includes pork lumpia, escabeche ( a fried fish marinated in sauce), pork caldereta, fried chicken, and some desserts, maja blanca and some pineapples.
The aftermath. Just look at how the lechon looks 30 minutes later.
Spaghetti is among the common foods during celebrations. In birthdays, as old tale's say, it signifies long life because of the long noodles. There are different versions of spaghetti but the most common one is the pork spaghetti with ground meat, ground beef can also be used or both. Some even have meatballs on top.
Below is called escabeche (a sweet and sour fish).
Fried chicken. Mind you, this might not look that amazing but it tastes great. Crunchy on the outside and juicy in the inside.
Lechon Manok. If pork lechon is impossible to buy because it's kind of pricey even per kilo, some settles in lechon manok instead. Though both is possible for the financially capable people.
This dish is called humba in the making. It's still the wok waiting for its final touches.
The last one is called kinilaw. A fish eaten raw (only the vinegar and some other spices cooked the meat). Behind is the finish product of humba. A black forest cake and a bunch of fresh bananas are also present.
That's all for today! Hope you like it. Thank you for reading my post. Let's keep steemin'!

Looks delicious! All of it! Are the whole pigs roasted in a pit in the ground? One of my father's co-workers invited us to a retirement party! The feast looked very similar & it was the first time I'd ever seen a whole roasted pig! Pretty dang good from what I remember! Nice post!
It's pretty common here in the Philippines to include a whole roasted pig on the table during special occassions. And yeah we're very proud of our roasted pigs here...so delicious to the bones... and the skin? so crisp and yummy..
