We had Barcelona last season. I went to Wembley to watch it. Just to see him. Messi. And he scored two against us. His movement was top class for a player getting on in his football career. Watching, conserving and then bang. 2 goals. We lost 4-2 in October but I came away happy. I was at the glamour tie and I saw the best footballer ever score two. There were 80 thousand eyes watching his every move the whole game. We still made it through the group drawing with them in the Camp Nou to make it to the knockout stages. We have been in the champions league now 3 years in a row and we love the glamour tie. This year we got another one. We were always going to as we were in pot 2. Here is our group.
I always go to an away game in the champions league and this year I am going to try and get down to Munich for the Bayern game on the 11 December. It is the final game of the group stages. Hopefully we should be through by then. I am also partial to a gluwein mit Rum at the Christmas markets and I have never been to the Munich market as of yet. The match is on the Wednesday. I went to the Dortmund game in Dortmund last year. Took a half day on Tuesday and fly home on Thursday and it was fine so I will do the same this time around.
The other reason I want to go to that match is that I think Munich are beatable. @wolfgangsport is a Bayern man and he wrote an excellent post the other day about the goings ons at Munich which you can read here
Wolfgang answered quite a few questions that I had on Munich. I always liked Munich and the way they play. But they are nowhere near as good as their champions league winning team in 2013. Not even near as good as the team Pepe prevailed over in his era. Yes they are still winning leagues but this may be a result of their financial dominance in their domestic league rather than their quality. A friend of mine from Munich described them brilliantly the other day. He is from Munich and he said
Bayern Munich are currently caught between two generations
He is right. Ribery gone, Robben retired. Neuer and Boetang are nowhere near as good as they once were. Yes Coutinho is in replacing Rodriguez and we will see how this goes. But Tottenham should not be worried in the slightest. I am looking forward to it already. So my decision is made. I do not fancy heading to Belgrade either. So as a whole Tottenham have 7968 miles to travel plus the league games around the ties are relatively good for tottenham so all in all it was a great group to be in.
Last year Tottenham were in the group of death with Barcelona and Dortmund and we got through. I curse myself already with the above title. We did not get through the year before and it was an "Easy" group. These are all champions we have here. Nothing is easy in the champions league.
Yes!! this year's draw appears less strenuous on paper.
They had a great bracket in the Champions League and I'm 100% confident that they'll reach round of 16 :).
Also, they're in a lead against Arsenal at this moment (2 - 1). Tottenham is one of the clubs silently making their way to the top.

7968 miles, that’s a hell of a lot of dribbling!

Awesome
Awesome @blanchysports
Belgrade would be interesting because of the atmosphere but Munich is a better football choice.
