Holywood Managers

I was watching Monday Night football and Jamie Carragher mentioned this term"Hollywood managers." It does make sense as they do become the stars of those clubs in a away and everyone just follows them. I haven't seen the reports but they said that Ancelotti has agreed terms with Everton apparently which is good news for them.

Money used to be spent on the players by these types of clubs and the manager even though was important was never a headline wage type. If you are going to spend 100 Million on a player you may as well have someone decent who is going to manage the team and makes no sense having a nobody running the show. I personally think if a manager is doing a good job for a club they need to pay him what he is worth. The headache of looking for a replacement and firing and hiring until you get it right sets the club back a small fortune each time.

Ancelotti arriving at Everton will do two or three things immediately. Firstly the players will listen to him as he is a successful manager demanding respect from everyone working with him. secondly the fans will take the Everton board seriously as this would not have been a cheap option like they would have taken in the past. Threat of relegation must be high on the worry list and staying in the Premiership is at all coasts these days. Thirdly other teams playing them from now on will be more wary as their tactics will change and they will become a better team than what we have seen thus far.

I think it is great that the "smaller teams" are going this route as they have no real choice really. Rather take on someone with a proven track record than gamble on someone who hasn't. I feel sorry for Duncan Ferguson who has stepped in as a caretaker manager and has shown he is capable of doing the job. I expect him to learn from Ancelotti and possibly will be in a better position to take the club forward in 4 or 5 years time.

Ferguson needs to sit it out and learn from someone who has the experience. Where do you think Guardiola and Mourinho received their management education? They stuck it out and spent time learning to walk before running. Unfortunately Solskjaer and Lampard are running already without the basics behind them. They are learning on the job literally which is only going to be at the expense of the club.

Ancelotti is in his 27th year as a coach and the clubs he has been with is a list of the top clubs in Europe which is surprising why he chose Everton as he is either desperate or saw something that he can work with. There again he has done Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, AC Milan, Juventus, Paris St Germain, Napoli and Chelsea with not many big name teams left in Europe he finds himself with Everton.

Saying that his record speaks for itself having won the Serie A in Italy 4 times with 2 different clubs, The Bundesliga, The French League and the Premiership in England. On top of that he has won the Champions league 3 times so one can understand a certain amount of expectations arrive when he joins a club.

The Premiership now has 4 Hollywood managers now in Guardiola, Mourinho, Klopp and Ancelotti which in fairness has only happened since the new payment structure from television or broadcast rights happened. I think we will see many more Hollywood managers arrive over the coming seasons as this is where the money is right now. This is good for managers as their salaries are bound to sky rocket like the players wages did.

Hollywood manager is something I really don’t like as a term. But he has a point, I would add Poch to that list too, and maybe some others too. But even for Hollywood managers there comes a moment they lose the X factor, and that time could have come for Ancelotti... I hope for the Everton fans, it hasn’t, but it could be. !trdo

Duncan Ferguson will fail at Everton in the long run and tje reason I say this is because he's got that hunger but can he cope with the heat when the teams starts to falter? The answer is definitely no!. As for Ancelloti, he's a proven winner i tip him to make Everton a mid table or Europa League team.

Haha, when you guys say Monday Night Football I am always thinking something totally different!

Not #point relevant.
