Yeahhh, After an explosive round of 16, the excitement will go up a notch in the quarter final stage with mouth watering, stomach tingling, jaw dropping fixtures on offer. There will be repeat of last season’s final, an all English heavyweight clash and ruthless maulings in Spain and Germany, pheew....gentlemen, Ecstasy awaits us.
Here’s a little preview of all four games and what we expect to happen.
P.S. - Of the eight round of sixteen ties, we correctly predicted seven.
Juventus vs Real Madrid
Ohhh, this tie is the tie we expect in a semifinal or final, but we’re joyous it came this early. Real Madrid have a red hot Ronaldo who is obliterating all before him while Juventus has ermmm, a great defence?
Well, all of that will be put to the test over the next eight days and it’s sure to be explosive.
Real Madrid outclassed Juve in last season’s final so you expect the Old Lady to see some sort of revenge here. They’re sitting pretty the top in the Serie A and showed their ruthless edge in the previous round by defeating a very lively Tottenham side.
Real on the other hand, have once again showed they come alive when it gets hot. They’ve kicked out thier poor La Liga form and are now more fluid and less predictable too. Also, there’s a small matter Ronaldo’s form to consider as well. The bloodthirsty Portuguese superstar is in the best goalscoring form of his already goal ridden career; scoring 21 goals in his last 11 games.
Like we earlier stated, Zidane’s recent tactical set up means Real Madrid are less predictable and have a better understanding with the ball. They also have their preferred midfield trio of Casemiro, Modric and Kroos available after all missed the game in Paris so we predict that they’ll qualify from this, Juventus may have a great defensive shape and a astute tactician in Allegri but Los Blancos are a different beast in Europe and will be better placed to progress here.
Sevilla vs Bayern Munich
As a neutral, you just have to feek sorry for this Sevilla team. Yes, they defeated Manchester United to get here but that more or less aided by the abysmal performance of the Red Devils. This Bayern Munich team are a jump too far, really really far. The Bavarians have lost just once in twenty and are fresh from defeating Dortmund 6-0 this past weekend in what was supposed to be a “classico”.
There’s not much to expect here other than Bayern progressing. Their attacking threat will be too difficult for the Sevilla defense while the midfield power which they possess will eliminate any threat the spaniards have.
