Bring back our leagues!!!
That’s probably what most football fans chant (inwardly) during the “FIFA distraction” that the international break is. Wordds like dull, boring, lullaby and other realated synonyms are used adjectives to qualify international friendlies. However, the just concluded international break had to extra spice of being World Cup preparatory games so it didn’t necessarily lull fans into sleep since fringe players and debutants were eager to show effectiveness in order to be Russia bound in June. But naaa, I’m not gonna discuss/analyse the football played, nop. I’ll focus on something else that caught my eyes, the absolutely beautiful jerseys. Watching the World Cup will be a like seeing the rainbow on a grass (especially for the laides) if we are to take this break into account. Not like everyone had good jerseys on though, (just check out Sierra Leone’s blue top and shorts, then deep green socks?? ewww) but these five jerseys below have players looking like the sun and moon and I just can’t wait to see more in June. Here they are.
GERMANY
The defending world champions are ready to “slay” anyone in June based on their incredible squad depth and these classy green tops. The retro thingy is just smooth and I can’t take my eyes off them. Well done Adidas
NIGERIA
The Super Eagles were unimpressive over the break but Nigerians should take solace in the fact that we’ll be the best dressed Africans at Russia. Everything about the chevron design is just Midas. From the training kits to the proper jersey, lovely, absolutely lovely. Weldone to the “obioma” people at Nike. Just look how it made Ahmed musa look like he’s handsome.
Spain
“Watching the World Cup will be a like seeing the rainbow on a grass“.
Yea, the Germany vs Spain inspired that sentence mainly beacause of the beautiful kits that match exhibited. Just check out Spain’s top with its traditional red with the zig zag yellow strip. It all makes for good visuals
Belgium
In it’s simplicity, this Belgium’s away kit is gem. I’m just so in love with it. Maybe it’s the yellow. But three colourful stripes on the shoulders look good too. Another lovely kit by Adidas
Argentina
That’s 4 out of 5 for Adidas, the kit manufacturers have truly outdone the competition this year. Argentina’s black away jersey is another simple design that stands out despite minimal pizazz.
