With Melbourne and Adelaide in action today, the Victory need a win to ensure they maintain fourth place on the Hyundai A League ladder.
Wellington have had a poor season and will probably finish last on the Hyundai A League ladder, but are not as horrible as their current position may suggest. They average over a goal a game, but also concede double that but last time these two teams played over in Wellington, it was the Phoenix who came away with a 2-1 win.
Melbourne Victory, at home, look hard to beat, but are coming off a 6-2 belting at the hands of South Korean AFC Champions League aspirants Ulsan Hyundai and it remains to be seen how much the travel to Asia will take out of them.
While Wellington is a massive step down from Ulsan Hyundai, do not underestimate Wellington's spirit and ability to attack at the Victory and score today. While I do not expect Wellington to win the match, I do expect some early goals.
The Prediction
Over 1.5 first half goals at odds of $2.00 as a spirited Wellington face a a tred Victory that is desperate to maintain top four hopes in the Hyundai A League.
The Victory are strong at the Rectangular Stadium and will look to pour on the goals or their fans tonight. With the likes of powerful Albanian Besart Berisha as hungry as ever, one cannot rule out some first half carnage from the boys in dark blue.
