RE: Gianluigi Donnarumma to sign new contract with...

Well to be honest, I feel "clubism" should be a thing again. The ultras are exaggerating as usual, but I do have a bit of understanding for them. They are the people who are fighting against the modern commerical football. So to answer, yes it is a huge rarity today to be a loyal footballer, and it will be only worse, with chinesse money playing a bigger role in the market.

Well said. It seems after Totti and Lahm retired there is only Buffon left. Who else can be called a one club man who is still playing?

True, noone major, you would find a lot in Croatia, Serbia and other countries with strong nationalistic values. But noone of the big names.

Buffon isn't a one club man, but I get your point.

There's De Rossi and Iniesta.

Messi has always played for Barça since he made the first team. But if you are at a club like Barça it's easier to stay. especially with the contracts they give him.

They opted to pay for his medical treatment when younger when other clubs wouldn't take that risk so I guess that had a big part to play in his loyalty also. Although I think Messi has been offered bigger money to move from the likes of Chelsea and Manchester city. Probably a Chinese club too!
